Phil's Nioh 2 strategy: "I'm going to do my transformation and just try to...bully my way through the fight. Then maybe a few hits at the end."

Oh, and as predicted...in midstance, using the "switchglaive" weapon that looks to be...basically like the spear.

Edit: Also, he died to one of the Nioh 1 Yokai. Like, the basic bitch single sword wild-swinging one.

I want to point out he's using the switchglaive. The SWITCHglaive. I don't use the weapon personally, but from what I've seen of it, its entire power and move set comes from the fact it can seamlessly switch between low/mid/high stance attacks in a single combo. I know it has a ton of skills that are essentially "At the end of a low combo, finish with a heavy hit from high stance"

Pigroach luck and the parents

Theyre old and mum smokes so Corona is going to claim them if they get it. They arent rich, but a mortgage free house and some savings? Very likely.

Debts are not inherited. When you due, all your debts and possessions go to a temporay trust called an 'estate'. Any debts are paid out of it before its passed to beneficiaries. So Phil can't inherit debt, but he coukd inherit 0 if the parents are living in debt (unlikely, but who knows)

Phil's problem is his cousin. Old lore about a cousin having a rough time and getting into bad things. She moved in with the parents and became a second child of sorts. If the parents have a will, she could get something. Phil could contest it (and likely win, contesting wills is retardedly effective at inserting yourself into the will, unless the person who wrote it specifically mentioned you get nothing and even then...) but he cant afford a lawyer dood! She could also contest it. The other issue is which of his parents is older, relevant when they find two dead corona victims in the house but too complicated to explain here.

Parents dying with a reasonable scenario has phil inherit a property worth enough to pay off his debts when combined with Wakhando. So the longer he drags this out, the worse its going to be if hes granted chapter 7 because all of a sudden he has money and assets. After chapter 7 is granted he might just keep it all. Chapter 13 will see the inheritance and claim it at some point.

Pretty much. One thing I will say is that I don't know what level Phil's at, so he may not have a lot of those skills you mention yet. Even so, he's not using the new "burst counter" mechanic at all, and he's not switching stances himself, even when, for instance, he staggered a Yokai boss/miniboss (not sure which). He then complained about not doing much damage.

The switch skills I'm talking about, the foundation of them at least. Are tier 1 skills. They're literally the first ones you can get.

Yeah, I remember them from Nioh 1, but as I recall, the switch will happen automatically with the right combo of button presses. Of course, he may just be mashing light attack.

JAB JAB JAB JAB JAB JAB.

Switchglaive wasn't in nioh 1? I think the Odachi had some switch combos tho. It does in Nioh 2 at least.

The Nioh equivalent of Random Super into death
Excuse my powerleveling, but as someone who has extensively played Bloodborne, I've learned that when you're fighting enemies who have long-range, sweeping attacks (like Mr. Bull) the best strategy is to get in close and strafe around them. After they attack, they'll leave their ass open for you to poke.
Problem is, Phil's using his tried-and-true safe strategy of staying at range, waiting for the enemy to attack, and then burning his Stamina bar. If you get hit, panic and run far, far away and try to heal, then blame the game when the enemy hits you a football stadium away. It's honestly very rare in these kinds of games that you need to stay far away from your opponent, as their sweeping attacks will leave them wide open, at least when you're playing a melee character.
The general rule of thumb in Souls is to never roll backwards or panic and run away, always stay up close and wait for your windows, whether to attack or heal.
This wouldn't bother me so much if he hasn't been playing "Soulslikes" for years, and yet has never learned anything, while still holding himself as an expert on them.

Última edición:
"just let me beat the fucking boss"

"i don't like pussy footing around bosses, I should just be able to fight the boss but they won't let me."

he's really enjoyin' this game.

And he's still blaming the game's camera for never disabling lock-on and running into walls and corners
Only a few hours in and this playthrough has every cadence of all the other Soulsborne runs of his

I don't believe it was. Odachi definitely had switch combos. I used that and the axe heavily. Loved the damage and stamina removal ability, especially with the axe high heavy attack. High risk, high reward.

I used Katana, but I'm trying Dual Swords/Odachi for Nioh 2. I liked Katana in 1, but I didn't like how the gameplay loop eventually became me just standing there waiting for someone to hit me so I could counter into Iai into backstab. Just wasn't any reason to do anything else.

Don't know how it is in 2, but odachi had a nice mix of attack and defense. I also liked some of the moves that drained stamina heavily if they connected. Led to some easy heavy damage.

The end of the first stream and he just gets to the end of the opening chapter? Did I miss something (or nothing)?
A whole lot of stalling, such as meticulously testing every starting weapon, and a lot of pretending to care about the game's controls outside of attack spamming.
He also struggled a lot to beat the easy first boss Mezuki, and the sad thing is, since it's Modern DSP I can't even tell if he floundered badly or if he was stalling out the clock on the stream.

That's assuming theres anything to get. Dont know if they have life insurance or an ongoing mortgage for their house, but any debt they had is inherited along with their assets. I'm not sure what types of debt are absolved on death, and based on how Phil describes them, they might have debt.

Assuming his parents own their home, could he inherit it? Could DSP end up with 3 homes?

Snatched from pigpiggo - string [very honest] from 2019-3-14 until 2020-3-14 appears 418 times. I'll cut 10% off to prevent him being taken out of context, though from a quick skim of the results it's almost exclusively him telling his audience how honest he's being with them (something super honest people are known for). Estimated hits = 376

Number of streaming days per year = (364.25/7) * 6 = 312.21 streaming days (rounding to 312)
Hours streamed in past 12 months = 312 streaming days * 6 daily hours = 1872 hours of khantent
Number of hours between honesty = 1872/376 = 4.978

Assuming Phil has averaged 6 hours per day/6 days per week for the past 12 months (not including his shit breaks/dead air/sausagemode/falling asleep/gamerface/etc.), he's had to remind his audience an average of once every 5 hours (being generous) of what an"ahnest" guy he is.
