He still snorts in those, but they're quiet snorts. Tevin describes them as stealth snorts. If he did only stealth snorts people wouldn't complain about it as much, it is annoying but it's tolerable unlike the hog snorts he unleashes on the stream.
What’s even worse (IMHO) are his burbs, which are fairly easy to control or keep quiet (or mute the mike for a second.)

But Phil just RAAAAAAAHHHBBs right into the microphone, usually followed by a chuckle or an “I’m sorry, that was ABSOLUTELY disgusting tuh-heh!”

(Yes Phil it was, so why are you doing it?)

Don’t want to go too psychoanalytical here over this, but men often unconsciously spit to mark “their territory”.

(Ancient primate thing, just look at soccer players and how they enthusiastically snort and spit during a game.)

I wonder if that has something to do with it? Phil simultaneously “marking” his safe space with burbs and snorts, admits it’s disgusting and then bans anyone who agrees with him that it IS disgusting.

“Muh stream, don’t like it you don’t need to come back, here’s a disgusting BAN! ACK! ACK!”

It’s clearly also, like you said, a way to “get one over” on the audience he clearly despises, but can’t openly tell to F off.

Thanks for the video tip, going to give it a watch!

Yeah, he's got to approve any comment in order for it to be public facing. If you go check the comment section on the videos since he's enabled it, there are only 2 or 3 that appear and they're all worthless "cool stream, Phil" or "wow, what an epic fail dood"
Surely if people wanted to troll his comment section though, they could leave a really tame comment like "Really chill stream, Phil", wait until he approves it and then edit it to say whatever they want, right?

Phil just does all kinds of things that make his streams and commentary reek of unprofessionalism.
Yawning while talking. Moving away from the mic while talking. Talking until he's out of breath. Staring at chat every time he cracks a joke to check if people are laughing. Overcompensating that he's "thinking" by rubbing his chin while going "HMMMMMMMM." Filling in gaps of dead air with fake laughs or sarcastic quips. All of the gross sounds like snorting, throat-clearing, burping, and coughing are borderline harassment of his viewers and he never bothers to do anything to curb it. Refusing to get involved with conversations between viewers, instead just berating them by saying "No one's talking to me, so..."
He really just never bothered to get better at what he was doing over thirteen years. The only thing he's even remotely "professional" at is running through his list of reasons for why you should tip him because A. That's something he actually cares about and B. He does it like thirty times a day.
He also genuinely believes he has good public speaking skills because he talks to a camera all day and attended tournaments (even though his back was facing the crowd 90% of the time).
Real tahlk, part of the reason restreamers caught on is every single one of his detractors somehow have better speaking skills than Phil despite most of them either beginning their streaming careers to shit on Phil or only doing it for the sake of that. It's such a stark contrast between a normal guy talking over Phil's gameplay and Phil's nasal whining, when one's supposed to be a talentless hack and the other a professional streamer, that it's honestly just fascinating.

He’s gonna disable comments again as soon as he reads this
Honestly what's funny is he still hasn't gotten even a single comment.

I didn't edit this, there's no photoshopping here, this is just the absolute state of DSPGaming in 2021.

For the love of god someone get on there and at least troll the poor guy. This is fucking depressing.

I'm waiting for Snowkarl to make a passive aggressive jahb at Phil in comment form.

Anything outright asking him to "get a job" will result in him closing down the comments again.

I left a comment and it still says 0 comments so there is that.
Piggy thinks he is clever doing that, but that also means he has to spend time combing through the comments to find ones that "praise him."

I mean maybe he will get like 15 positive comments and like 80 "troll" ones.

He uploads like 6 videos daily....so idk why he has his comments on "approve first."

That's going to take all day to approve them, and also cut into his "WWE champs" time.

Easily the dumbest decision Phil could make. Either you open the floodgates or you keep em closed forever.

Yeah his MvC stuff is prime example of how he's a cookie cutter no meta understanding caveman, he selects two of the big high damage guys that can just steamroll because they can't be stunned as easy and uses the life gem and it's always the same easy mode Thanos combo ending with the gauntlet backhand.
He plays every fighting game like it's his precious Super Turbo. Find the broken or tank characters, find one good combo, spam it, and if it doesn't work, it's lag/opponent sucks/opponent cheated, etc. Every game he does this, and it shows just how bad he is because ST is one of the worst FGs despite it being one of the most popular.

You know what, you're right, he could have turned on the "Hold all for review" setting, that would make it so only comments he approves appear.
It is surprising he hasn't made that change to review all the comments considering this is the same ubatz who has to approve his stream chatters usernames and has to review every question submitted for Ask the King Goblin.

Him shitting on other players when he gets his ass beat is awesome. If I remember when he first was playing against Gojitenks they had a few matches and DSP was giving him his big ups or whatever and it may have even been within the same stream he changed his tune to how Gojitenks uses lag tactics, has a lag switch he uses when he matches up with Phil, is using macros to do his moves automagically, throwing out risky moves and specials that supposedly cannot be punished when playing online. It is just funny how one single Sean player mind fucked him so hard.
