They are spending so much money on food, good lord. Assuming they bought everything from Schwan's, they spent $21 for the pork chops, $8 for the mashed potatoes (substituted for the $8 sweet potatoes) and $6 for the corn. Those together costs $35, which of course doesn't include the cost of the apples, onion and whatever else they needed, so add in a couple more bucks and they spent close to $40 for one meal; they might as well have gone out to a restaurant for that price. They could have spent less than half of that had they picked up everything from a regular grocery store.

Edit: Looked up the prices of pork chops (at 36 ounces, what's listed on Schwan's), a bag of potatoes, a can of sweet corn, apples and onions at my local grocery store, would have cost me $15-16 to get all that.
Did he brag about this today or yesterday? Just because I saw a quote from @drgnkiller yesterday where Phil said "Kat made me a meal you could get at a restaurant for $25. See how lucky I am. I told you I was lucky." Only piss poor gamblers like Phil would celebrate being $15 in the hole.

So am I right in assuming that they pay him to keep that community going? I can't lie, I find that really fucking sad.

As I understand it, there's perhaps three intermingling layers of the regulars in Phil's streams:

The uppermost is the more mobile group of "Deepcover trolls": Kozatof, thirdeyethethird, etc. They get banned, then return to get banned again.

Then there's the stable Community proper: samantha_birmingham, kingofnothing134, etc. Unremarkable.

Then the innermost psychos. This is comprised of those that throw money at Phil like Swagginz, as well as the more rabid like Sidella. This layer is both solid and mobile, dedicated to Phil, but also quick to lose their minds.

i can feed 4 people for 40 bucks and have left-overs
hell, there are local restaurants that can feed 3 for 40 bucks

So much money wasted, because they're too lazy and paranoid of going outside. Very pathetic.
they do go outside to get gin food
i think they get this shit because it's expensive and expensive means good to phil
also it looks """""fancy""""" without the extra work
phil probably thinks mashed potatoes are some 5 star cuisine only the best chefs can make

It’s only a matter of time before he spergs out on his fans and gets shut down for bullying.
he wont be banned until that one fan of his that works for twitch gets the boot

I'm all for finding a community and maybe even donating to keep it going. But to pay someone who will verbally abuse viewers, who gives power to people who won't think twice about banning anyone for any perceived slight. It seems pointless to me. There are countless streamers on Twitch big and small. There's funnier streamers, more serious streamers, titty streamers, irl streamers, eating streamers, comedy, ASMR, and lots more besides.

Paying this fat fuck for his "community" at least now a days isn't worth it. You can dump hundreds/thousands in and get nothing at all. There are streamers out there who will treat you better, remember who you are, and at least pretend to care how you're doing. And there are mods out there who can take a fucking joke and not feel the need to type "get swagged on" after every ban.
It's not a "community", it's a cult. Turning to the most hated, inept, and anti-social person for sense of "community" is the last thing anyone with common sense would do. Take a good look at his dead forums, closed comment sections in his YouTube channels, dead patreon page, tightly controlled and ban-happy twitter profile, and his Nazi-run Twitch chat and tell me that's the type of "community" you want to proudly join and associate with.

Only the lowest dregs of the internet society (with few exceptions) gravitate towards Phil, so naturally once all them are in a room together they realize they've met other weirdos just like them. And so they're willing to put up with a 36 year old man talking (or rather not talking), snorting, burping, etc. in the background as long as they get to have their rape fantasies, power/ego trips and all that other shit his community is known for. They would not last with other streamers because no other streamer would tolerate their behavior, but Phil will if you give him quarters every once in a while. Some are there out of a hopeless obligation to "help" this constantly begging manchild out of his crippling debt and keep his house. Those are the types of people that should leave Phil's toxicity behind and go to way more grateful, more entertaining, more friendly streamers.

For a while I just thought of calling Phil's group a cult was just in jest, but then I looked at the warning signs...

Not sure if this needs archived but here you go: http://archive.is/PtX3K

That applies to such a degree I almost assumed it was a fake site. I do remember reading something a few years ago along the same lines though.

It's actually quite terrifying when you think about it. If he was more willing to mingle with people IRL we probably wouldn't be too far away from reading about a mass suicide.

He never, ever, EVER has an opinion. On anything.
That's factually wrong.

He is very fast in talking shit about other streamers, developers and games.
These are opinions, not well informed opinions, very salty opinions, opinions of a very limited world as he dosnot leave the house, but still opinions.

EDIT:
This wondered me for a while now. Potion the Cat was a gift from Khet, he got it even before the Halloween holidays and it turned kinda into his mascot. Since the Halloween debacle Potion is gone, Phil also adressed that without an explanation I'm aware of. So ... why exactly is the plushie of Khet gone? I smell some smoke in his relationship.

Phil is a good example of what would happen if you become a couch potato. Just exercise guys, it's important to stay in shape, even if you aren't a fat ass like Phil.

He's literally becoming increasingly potato shaped. See: Mr. Potato head.

It's like an even sadder version of Gab where people ostracized from regular online social groups congregate and sperg out together. It's alot like here, really. Except we possess self awareness (most of us seem to at least.)

I would also like to say it's not really a cult because I don't think most of the DSP Chat really follows or cares about Dave. As BSV said it's about the community.

Things like tipping and cheering and being on the board have little to do with Dave and are simply bragging rights within the group, and seems to establish a pecking order.

They also seem to use Dave; they make him dance for quarters, they use him to attack people they dislike and they use him to protect people they do like.

A cult requires a charismatic leader. Dave is not that. Dave is more like a toilet they sank into the ocean that is foundation for the saddest coral reef ever to exist.

Also DSP is smart enough to know that anything he says he likes will become a meme. His favorite music? Radiohead dude. His favorite animal? Lions that fuck the women all day. His favorite pasta? He prefers a penne. His favorite wrestler? CM Punk. His favorite movie? Ghostbusters. Favorite actor? Bill Murray. Favorite subject in school? Computers.

He has favorite things but he won't say them so the detractors don't use it to hurt him.

And as far as Potion goes, Potion was a Halloween prop. It was pretty popular and DSP has hinted that he will be spending the money he doesn't have to buy more stuffed animals. Expect a new one for the Christmas season.

2018 Dave is now nearing the end of this chapter in his Greek tragedy - Some would see Dave akin to Prometheus (The immortal Prometheus was bound to a rock, where each day an eagle, the emblem of Zeus, was sent to feed on his liver, which would then grow back overnight to be eaten again the next day) therefore having pleasure at his schadenfreude, would be akin to chucking quarters at Dave, like the eagle taking a bite from his liver.

In my observations both parties coexist, sure a few bad apples from both sides.. Essentially a cordial and fascinating community. Both attempting to create their own Frankenstein (The Modern Prometheus).

Yeah, he said a couple times during the Halloween stream that it was Potion's last night.

Prometheus gave humanity fire. DSP invented the let's play and has a 10 year legacy as well as being the #1 North American Super Street Fighter II Turbo player. Who do you think the history books will remember?

Bragging was from Nov 2nd night stream.

Nah, its ok because "Views, views, I don't want to be Mr. Views..."

It's funny...while tip hunting, I've seen multiple iterations of "Support contributions were really good tonight, even with not many viewers, so that's great". He's (not surprisingly) fully aware of how shit-tastic his viewership is, he just doesn't care as long as those 4 people are dumping money to him.
