He's describing everything that he sees on screen, without the viewers being able to see what's happening. So it's his usual gaming "commentary", but without the gameplay. It's worse than awful.
I know he's doing this to come off as edgy and to be able to shit on Nintendo (in this case, not unearned), but if he had done 5 minutes of research before instantly buying this crap, he could've done something completely different instead of knowingly torturing what's left of his unironic viewers.

This is the most dented thing Phil has done in a long time. Not the worst, not the thing that hurts him the most, but just very, very dented. How does he believes this is content for unironic viewers. Reminds me of radio hosts moderating a sports event, but in dumb.

Yesterday and today have been unhinged with this Virtual Boy shit.
Phil acting like he got scammed by Nintendo because he is clueless and will make blind purchases based on the voices in his head and no other information.
For anyone who doesn't know, Nintendo has an online membership where you get NES, SNES, N64, and so on, collections to play on the Switch and Switch 2. Because of this, they sell controllers for the Switch on Nintendo Online, so you can play your SNES games on an SNES controller, but its wireless and for the Switch/Switch 2 exclusively.
Not a single fucking person who interacts with the Nintendo Online system, which is good value if you are a Nintendo fanboy, thought for a second that the Virtual Boy thing was anything but the peripheral for the Virtual Boy games so you can experience them as you would have. Not one person thought it was a $99 VR headset that just makes your Switch 2 a 3D VR device.
But here comes Phil Burnell, who thinks you can be taught how to be smart (which isn't his job to teach you), who got the base tier membership (promise you no one gets this one), to be able to buy a device that only exists to actually get something out of the Virtual Boy collection, which an average person already thinks is lame and wants Nintendo to release good GameCube games. He does all this blindly, thinking the device is not a shell for your Switch, but a full electronic device that will have HDMI out ports, not even knowing that the Virtual Boy collection is behind the main tier of the subscription.
He is such an old man its fucking crazy, and like the old faggot he is, immediately claims that he was scammed. And you know what the ONLY solution to Nintendo scamming people (Phil) is for every single person on earth to complain to the media and write up articles about how this old man was scammed and then Nintendo would have to change.
Every complaint he has about this, is either something that is understood to be why the device failed when it first launched, or something tied to Phil buying stuff (getting memberships to buy stuff even) blindly without looking into a single aspect of the device.
Then, of course, for the Virtual Boy stream, he has to sit there and download every collection, act like it makes him cool to have access to them like you don't have access, and talk about a queue of things downloading as "we've got a lot of work to do".
Now acting like no one knows what this is again, to the audience who watched him unbox it, giving you every detail he can come up with for his presenter persona for the DSPGaming television channel he runs, like how its a replica "in form factor and size".
This is fucking madness. And the weight! He doesn't know anything about the faults of the original, but claims to not just know the weight of the original, as if he owned it, but from memory be able to tell you the weight 30 years later.

It's so funny man every restreamer spent the 2 minutes to google, download and install the full Virtual Boy romset + emu and is showing it on screen while DSP is playing but he just couldn't fucking be bothered

I think Phil is tragically tied to the wrong medium as a content creator.
Hearing him describing how terrible he is doing and letting your brain fill in the rest is so much better than just seeing it. Could he pioneer being the worlds first radio video game playthrough channel?

I'm starting to think this man may be retarded.
He genuinely has ZERO clue how this works. Its a piece of plastic you put your Switch 2 in and get up close to the screen, with an image for each eye. Phil thinks this is a "Virtual Boy Console" and that the device, the piece of plastic with two pieces of translucent red film is taking the two images that are being produced on the Switch 2 and FOCUSES them into one image. He thinks this is happening in the piece of plastic, by what can only be assumed to be magic, and that is why when he puts his head up to it, it looks like one image even though its two images.
He is 43 fucking years old and doesn't understand he has stereoscopic vision, doesn't understand how depth perception works...

Yes, they did.
If you need the device to play them, you wouldn't be able to properly play them without it. They tell you this on the website before you buy it. They told you this in September during the Direct they revealed it in.
