DarksydePhil / TheyCallMeDSP / Phil Burnell: General Discussion #2
MtG is also very much played, but the fact that it does crossovers and licensed media partnerships mean the cards have collector value even for non-players.
MtG has the reserved list too: WotC has committed to never reprinting certain cards and repeatedly making that commitment for so long means they could be civilly liable for the depreciation if they went back on their word now. Even trash cards on the list can fetch three figures.
He will (just like much of his Doordash slob) put it on his taxes, probably even all those boxes he opened off stream. I am not sure hopw taxes work exactly but I think there is a limit on how much he can deduct. anyway he is a small fry that pays interests on his backtaxes that probably grow with each year. He is the perfect IRS guy: pays more buy paying late then not paying at all
There is no breaking even. Once again, card boxes have a NEGATIVe 70-90% roi. Him adding up all the .50 cent cards is fucking stupid because fees would be more when trying to sell.
This is something people have been doing for decades. The math is known and the companies are getting even more greedy.
This is why we should all rejoice in iCS and the other 2 homos giving Phil as much money as possible. 70-90% of that money is instantly GONE! The rest of the value will rot in his closet.
Pack it up guys, FF6 saved the business and we are felted. All detractors with able body arms report to your nearest air punching facilities for immediate Air Punching.
it doesn't work like that.
technically he is allowed to do that and he should be doing that. He is also allowed to pretend that he buys them for his business and "films" contents for future use/release.
technically he is also allowed to put as business expenses all of his doordash meals, on and off stream, with the excuse that he isn't doing it for content development or some bs like that.
technically he should also have his car as a business asset, like he has part of his mortgage as business expense.
technically he can go on vacation as business trip.
how do you think gaybe "the faggot" newel manages to haul his fat ass around a 300mil boat TAX FREE?
you have to escape the wagecuck mindset in order to understand how the rich aren't paying any taxes and especially how they are NOT paying any VAT.
how do you think that the other retard, steve jobs, managed to pay himself $1 per year? he paid for his expenses?
car? -> company car
food? -> company food
rent? -> company provided housing
vacation to eat fermented pajeet shit from ganga-style river to cure your cancer? -> business trip
BTW I collect those for fun and rest be assured that almost none of the stuff are really worth ANYTHING worth of monetary value because like with Yu-Gi-Oh, they reprint cards like crazy and even if they do collabs (the Nijisanji ones as far as I know, next year they collab with SF6 and I don't know what will happen by then), the cards are all reprintable because they don't directly involve collab characters. The only things that are really worth any money at the long term are the alt-art "gold treasure" reprints that you're just better off spending money to buy singles and call it a day (and there are lots of anime waifus in those). Most people buy cards to play the game for good measure.
If this fat fuck ever decides to touch digimon tcg, i expect him to be a secret fan and then watch him mispronounce digimons or call them pokemon names.

If he buys into yugioh it'll be in a few months when they introduce the new rarity "grandmaster" as those will be serialised and extremely valuable (also extremely rare, only 100 will be printed in the set, ever) and as a previous poster mentioned Konami aggressively reprint power cards to the point that the value goes through the floor.
That said, I would love to see Phil play yugioh in some capacity. I love the game but it's so unfriendly to new players that he will for sure struggle with the amount of shit going on (watching him get hit with a hand trap will be very very funny)
I seriously cannot comprehend how someone can be this useless that he needs to be handheld in practically every aspect of his life. I still maintain that Linda wiped his ass for him.
He already opened up the Topps Chrome boosters earlier in the year. He threw them out on stream. Ethan Ralph didn't even get that Stacy Kiebler refractor parallel he wanted from Phil. It was too much effort for Phil to give Ethan even one card after getting 2 free appearances from Ethan.

It's not as if DSP would ever deal with another human being to actually sell any of the cards he's picking up. He's too much of an antisocial paranoid weirdo. So it doesn't matter if he "makes a profit" since they're just going to collect dust forever.
