DarksydePhil / TheyCallMeDSP / Phil Burnell: General Discussion #2
DSP could possibly be a goblin lord or champion at this point
In general, each individual considers himself to be smarter and better than the goblins around him, and therefore to be deserving of more than their fellows. They have a self-serving mindset that one should not hesitate to take the best for oneself, as it would be exactly what other goblins would do, only leaving what is less desirable for others and thus one should help oneself first
He sits in the same room, plays a video game, and says the same mindless babble to the same 50 people that he's streamed to for the past 10 years, and he does this almost every day.
The only day he doesn't stream, he sits at home and orders doordash and instacart so he doesn't have to leave the house.
Phail phailed phenomenally with this.
Being from Seattle, he could have adopted the 'new home' team angle.
Being from Ct, he could have taken the 'old home' team angle.
Or, he could have played the 'conflicted' angle of which team to rout for.
But that would require someone that is interested in men's sports (see: not sissy sports like chasing other male internet gamers that aren't interested in you for drama) and have an entertaining personality.
Now, I haven't hit the goal yet so please support.

I'm going to guess extremely slowly. Think about your own job. When you're doing menial tasks, the day drags but when you have something new or challenging, the day flies by.
Someone should tell this person from 10 years ago that the games industry went the wrong way and now yellow paint is the de facto standard of all games. Phil Burnell wins.
(note: I found this random ass blog by searching for darksydephil + penultimate)
Phil has said among his many "everything has changed" rants since Sir Gold that he plans on playing many more games and doesn't care about finishing/progressing them. Pigspeak for admitting wagequits are the way now. Gibs money. Gibs to be Phil's guide to save games.

Just one of the myriad aspects to his job that he could easily get away with if he was either more entertaining or more kind. I guarantee you the top ten VTuber earners of all time have not finished most of the games they play. I’d go far enough to say that proportionally and comparatively Phil has likely completed a larger percentage of games. But most of their audience isn’t going to care about that, they just want to have a good time watching someone play a game
He's logging in everyday and his 683 roster size suggests he's still getting every new card. But he's not in a faction so he has no real incentive to go crazy in events. My guess is he's cutting back on Champions and probably focusing more on another shit gacha game.
A question for the black people in the thread, can anyone explain if Phil is actually still playing WWE Champions? He seems to still login but it looks like he hasn't played any events in a while. He lied about the 3 account bullshit on stream recently and claims he no longer plays. Has his roster been expanding or upgraded at all in recent times?
Phil claimed on stream that he no longer plays and hasn't played WWE Champions for a while and also retold the 3 account lie (there's the downfromtherafters account which does exist, the on-stream account which does exist and the third lie account which he supposedly privately plays on)
He seems to still login to his account, but he doesn't ever have updated matches. He has been out of a faction for a long period of time. Who knows enough about this game to tell whether he is actually still playing it or not? There are no events listed on his profile during 2026, but is that just faction...
I think so. He's not in a faction though. We used to be able to access the API and see the details (here) but the site hasn't updated since December. I've tried dicking around changing some of the stuff in the address but I'm not a dev or programmer so I have no idea what I'm doing. What I do know is that you can force an update by refreshing, so the site should be taken with a grain of salt.
However, it seems that when you first go to the page without refreshing you get an accurate time. But the page is buggy so take that into consideration. Still, often it will show he's last active on breaks, so I'm fairly certain he's still playing, and often.
He had a little drama with the Sons of Smackdown back in the fall (2025) before the API page stopped working. He dropped from the faction, briefly joined again, and now he's factionless once more. If you want my take, I think that his diminishing profits from streaming have caused him to be able to invest less money and made having him in their faction more trouble than it's worth. Obviously they don't want to deal with Phil any more than anyone else has his entire life, but if he's dropping money they'll tolerate him. Well, he's not anymore, because he can't. This is all conjecture, though, we don't know what's up.
However I can say that I am pretty certain he is still playing. As far as the details we'd need TJ or someone else, though I think ALT of WPIG confirmed with TJ that he is indeed still playing the game.
I also agree that I think he's shifting his focus to other games, but he just can't stop playing WWEC. Sunk cost fallacy.
But DSP has no threat level to anyone but dentheads more pathetic than him and can't even play a video game right unlike Goblins who had literally raped and killed every other woman in the novels and can adapt to everything (not just environmental, "the same tactic doesn't work on them for a second time"), which makes him more pathetic than Goblins.

There are two issues with that as I see it. One is that he built his brand on finishing games, which has driven away what few fans he had left. However given the low quantity of those still with him, and the fact they're still there, I don't think it's a huge concern. Still, could bring back some legacy DSP enjoyers.
Two is that it disincentives donations for all but the whales. If he had a more reasonable goal for his audience size, like $25-$50 then it might work, but there is no way that an audience of about 50 real fans are gonna get him to $150, twice a day. As stupid as they are, the dents aren't so stupid as to think their $5 dono a couple times a week is gonna have any impact on a wage quit. Not only that, but if he committed to a playthrough his fans might feel more generous, instead of now where they're basically holding until it's a game they REALLY want to stay, or to get a game over the finish line when it looks like it's close.
And when my hair started to look like this it degenerated very quickly and i could no longer work with it in the span of just one year.
He doesn't have much time left i reckon, at least before the toupee/combover/hair fibers saga begins.
You know when you wash your hair and it looks fuller/healthier?
When you see this "looks like hair gel has been applied/looks always dirty" effect it means the hair is becoming so thin that even when you wash it there's not enough volume to it for it to look fuller.
Time is running out, Phil. Just like the Norwood reaper came for me, it's your turn now, brotha.
He might as well get on the Finasteride / Minoxidil train. I refused to do that because i find having hair is useless if your dick does not work, but it's not like he uses his dick anyway...
The easy answer to the question of whether he still plays Champions is: do you really think he just dropped the gachaslop game he's spent THAT much money on, over the course of nearly a decade? He's even finally admitted he spent at least the price of a sports car on it, and we all know it's really even more than that.
He's going to "play" that game daily until he literally can't anymore because he either dies or the servers are shut down. He will derive no enjoyment from it. At this point I wonder if his dopamine receptors are so fried that he doesn't receive enjoyment from anything at all.

Ay, sunk cost fallacy is one hell of a drug. No way Phil of all people stops playing it without a very big external push. He kept on playing while going bankrupt!
At 68k videos getting 500k total views per month, that means each video averages roughly 7 views per month. Obviously the newer uploads get way more than that so when you factor that in, he probably has 10s of thousands of videos sitting on youtube servers going months without getting a single view.
His channel is dead. I wonder if youtube purged every video that hasnt been watched by a single person in lets say 6 months, how many of his videos would be deleted? Probably at least half of his 68k videos would be gone. Its just crazy to imagine how many thousands of hours of videos he has that will never be watched a single human again just sitting there wasting server space.

He did with WWE Supercard, although he didn't spend close to the same amount there and it was much easier to fall behind to the point you just give up. If his focus becomes another game, Champions has to give eventually.

I have to say that the theory that I read in this thread that he started taking Ozempic to lose weight to own those dastardly detractors once and for all had the side effect of reducing his gambling cravings.
At the end of the day, anybody dropping a bad habit is a good thing - however, I think the fact that he solved the problem chemically deprived him of any character growth (which let's be honest, he is incapable of at this point), he is white-knuckling it, there is some pressure building up and the crash out is going to be catastrophic.
I've thought of that, and it is possible. I just don't think he has the pull there that he used to. If anything I think they would just disable his page, but instead we get accurate readings some of the time. But maybe they deleted a line of code and this is the result, I have no idea.

And he hasn't gotten anything in return. Like I said, sunk cost. If he stops that login streak he has to admit that all that money was literally pissed away. Hundreds of thousands of dollars for nothing. No, I think he'll keep that login streak until the day he dies, maybe even after.

I think there’s even more to it than that. Phil lives life like it’s pay to win for everything. In his head he either believes, or gaslights himself into believing pouring money into his terrible streamer setup will just net him more money. He thinks spending more money on any particular thing is the best solution. WWE Champions lets him exist in a world where you can actually pay to win, that’s how they sucked so much cash out of him.
In many ways Phil represents everything wrong with this country. When people like Phil exist, the rest of us suffer the consequences.
