I can't wait to watch the views drop slowly throughout the day once people realize how insufferable his gameplay is. Prestreams always have a lot of views because people stop by to hear him get baited/say stupid shit.
 
I was just thinking. Now would be a great time for Phil to hop on peertube and get on one of those instances where they give you unlimited disk space. He could get big by hopping on early on in peertube's upcoming popularity when youtube continues to shit the bed. Just don't go on any instance where videos get manually approved before uploading (like his comments are)

Well, if they're going to stick around, they better get used to this stalling and shilling as it will compose 50% of the playthrough anyway.

He also wants to thin out these numbers - he isn't actually comfortable with this many people there because he knows there are too many trolls in that group. There haven't been that many people genuinely interested in watching him for years. This 700 people is currently doing what he wants them to be doing - providing a smokescreen, plausible deniability, and a nice positive narrative to cover for why he is getting so many new members who are socks. These can now trickle in and it's totally just the newfriends and fair weather fans finding their way home.

Also after years of pretending, Phil is admitting that dislikes count as engagement on a video. But even as he does this, he cannot separate the damage the dislikes do to his ego, blaming his dislikes on trolls.

My favorite moment of this prestream so far is that Phil got too excited by his own hype and slipped a few times (saying that he was openly shilling for memberships, for example). But the best part was when he said that if he had gifted memberships, they would have hit the 300 members goal at the start of the month. Just flat out admitting that he relies on whales to inflate his numbers, and either expects or knows that they're just waiting for the gifts to go active. If his fans weren't dents, they'd realize how much that devalues their individual support. The money you're paying doesn't matter - when those gifts go active, you'll be given a membership anyway.
 
Elden ring has things like jumping, reduced fall damage and more exploration so unlike DS if you jump down a hole you won't die unless you're stupid and you do but it's returning to it's roots while also being different but it's back to it's roots unlike that not Dark Souls game but souls like Sekiro but also miracles are OP which is in EVERY From software game, which to me is odd I don't remember miraclrs being in Armored core, Sekiro and I haven't found them yet in Bloodborne.

Does like Khet not let him speak? So when he gets on stream he's so backed up he just says whatever pops into the gin cavern with a keem suite called a head. He just has to get all this out so whats left of his brain doesn't try to filter out anything that wouldn't make sense or contradicts himself it just can barely make them words at this point.

It is nice to have some of the older hands pumping the breaks and stop wishful thinking spinning out of control. It's very easy to get caught up in a bit of wishful thinking and hype, and just run with it.

When I had first registered it was common for older posters to remind people that people have been saying "this is what will ruin dsp" for years. It's still true, despite every insane thing he's gone through he's still here not because he's immortal but because he's a cockroach and skitters to someplace just viable and weasels the max money out of that situation with the least effort. It needs to be said from time to time that this isn't the thing that will ruin DSP or stop him. Whatever it is. He will keep going till the end of time because he's learned other people can fund his way of life without him doing a damned thing. That is the truth of why Leanna called people who went to college and got careers suckers. Not because she hated education (although she might have) but because she was arrogantly parroting DSP. He felt people were stupid except him since he didn't have to work and he's repeated this time and time again.

Playing Devil's advocate here, but I don't really see what the problem is with that (apart from spamming thread with pics of chat that aren't really relevant).

As long as they aren't troll tipping, aren't members, use an adblock, don't like/dislike and don't comment on uploads then where is the harm? You can sit and shit talk in chat without it affecting Phil's engagement metrics at all really.
 
May I point out that Phil has been on Youtube for 14 years and yet doesn't remember the rating system Youtube was using before the Likes/Dislikes.

EDIT: It really is astonishing how ignorant he is about the platforms he makes his livelihood on. It's literally all presumptions. He doesn't look up anything. Obviously, Youtube uses and needs dislikes to make their algorithm work better. It's not because they want to cause toxicity on their platform. Holy fucking shit. He can't see anything from a perspective other than his own. His autism makes it impossible for him to use critical thinking.

Because it's part of his feedback loop. Many do it to sneak diss or try to get him to rant etc. Really we don't need that. He fucks up his own life and encouraging people to do the reddit style "fuck up their life" detracting is just dumb, creates static in the feed of shit going on with him. If you don't give him something superficial to rant about he rants about more interesting/revealing things ala Minecraft and Pubg eras. Being in his chat makes his chat busier than it should be. It helps him to have more viewers, it helps him to have more chatters. And plenty of these people who are clearly detractors still suck his nuts to avoid bantown which feeds his authority fetish as well as is them being subservient to the pig. If we just weren't around and he was ruining his own life while we laughed it's significantly more feelings of helplessness. But instead he gets people like that to ban, and snowkarls.

I would argue that both of you have valid points, thus a mixed bag.

But I would like to have a few streams with nobody trolling just to get a measure of just how dead his streams actually is, my guess is that just a few streams like that would rattle his ego quite a bit and make for some fun panic.
 
Oh wow! Phil isn't taking a bathroom break today! Isn't that 'cool'? He knew people would be here and want to start the gameplay (after a full-length prestream...) so he used the bathroom before he started today!

So when Phil thinks there is money, he can figure out how to pace his bathroom breaks so his fans don't need to wait. Regular fans on a regular day? They can wait.
I also like how not taking a scheduled 20 minute bathroom break at an inappropriate time is something remarkable.
Friendly reminder that Phil built this bathroom break in steadily over the course of late 2018. It did not exist after his prestream prior to that. So he intentionally lowered the quality of his streams just so that doing something 'normal' and 'correct' becomes praiseworthy.

EDIT: Phil delayed starting gameplay because he found out there were a bunch of tips he 'didn't see' because his tip display 'broke'.
One of these was a $20 tip from Swagneto. So he was trying to hide money.
