Technically not a ladies-only art form, but somehow I doubt that the Farms attracts many Baryshnikovs.

Anyway, this is a place to talk about training, performance, injuries, costumes, fending off pervy dudes, anything dance related. I got into social dancing (what the French call "rock," plus Latin-type dances) a few years ago and when my shitty boyfriend got mad because men were involved, I took up belly dancing and pole instead (no men in those classes, not where I live) and am very proud of my malicious compliance.

I spent the 2000s alternating between barreling around in moshpits, skanking, and parapara. Kids these days say millennials can't dance, but no one can ever say we DON'T dance.

Last good one I went to was Bad Manners in a pub in Kirkcaldy. Buster had lost a lot of weight, but we all still chanted "YOU FAT BASTARD" when he came out, it's tradition.

I'm about as coordinated as a pillowcase filled with five drunk weasels, but I really wanted to learn Irish step as a kid. There was a dance studio in my town that specialized in it and I got to see a demonstration at a park event. My family has Celtic roots so it seemed like a really fun thing to learn but the lessons ended up being really expensive.

I took up belly dancing

I wanted to do this too, I think it would be a really great core excersize while also being fun. There was a local bellydance troupe in my town full of nice older ladies, one of which was a very beloved teacher from my high school.

I saw Bad Manners i think it was last year, he'd gained the weight back and did not look well,but he fucked nailed it though. All the 60 year old drunk white women ruined it, just really obnoxious.

I've seen Bad Manners twice and each time a drunken karen ruined it.

First time some drunk cunt grabbed my husband on the sausage and beans, i nearly put her head through a table for touching him. Security kicked her out pretty quick, the worst bit is the band hadn't even gotten on yet.

I'll miss him when he eventually carks it, but I'm amazed he's lasted as long as he has already.

Irish step is really fun! I'm thinking of taking it up if my schedule clears up. There's a lady here who goes around and gives classes in all the little towns. I've taken a few of them, and it's really pretty easy to get the basics down. Plus it's an awesome workout.

But bellydance is my love. I've made so many friends, the outfits are cute, and the atmosphere is just really warm and accepting. The ladies at my studio range in age from 16-75 (with the oldest lady being the studio owner). We're currently getting ready for a cabaret show and I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out the best way to do a less-than-30-seconds costume change while dashing from (back) stage left to stage right. Aargh. One way to get your feet wet is just to go to YouTube, there are lots of free tutorials; I usually take an online course during the summer, too, because we only practice during the school year.
