"Current year" terms that piss you off

"___ trash"- "furry trash", "weeb trash", "gay trash", ect.
It's a just a way for people to act annoying and openly degenerate, but it's okay because they know spending all day masturbating to furry trap porn is weird. Like if you really want people to stop bullying you then just don't tell people about how trashy you are, or it could be these people just have an exhibitionist fetish?

"Weeaboo" and "weeb" seem to be losing all meaning. The words first meant "Japan geek" -- in an excessive fangirl/fanboy poserish way -- but now it seems they're used to refer to anything Japan related. Or anyone interested in anything Japan related.

They smack of identity politics too -- seems they're always used to refer to whites.

I don't know what that even means. Is it supposed to be about tea or a dumb way of saying 'thesis'?
It's the tumblerina version of prefacing a discussion about drama or their own 'hot take'. That's another thing that pisses me off. Relativism has gone so far that every response to something is a 'take'. Because God forbid their be anything that is irrefutable in there. No wonder MauLer goes off on autistic rambles about objectivity.

Actually, constantly using the term "Current year" irritates the hell out of me. Whenever I hear it, I immediately think of the Mr Rental scene from Spaceballs. "We're at now, now! Everything that is happening now, is happening now!". Basically the argument is "You need to do things this/my way because its now now!". Sorry, that isn't how things work. Just because its the "Current year" doesn't mean you're right.

Also, the man bashing terms like Man-splaining are dumb because it is basically a way for the other side to reform language to justify their own biases and sexism. I guarantee you that no man could never get away with accusing a woman of "Woman-splaining". Also, the word is EXPLAINING. The definition doesn't change based on the damn gender. Men explain themselves and give excuses. Women explain themselves and give excuses. Why do we need to have a different word to highlight when men do it? Oh because you're a bunch of hate filled lunatics? Okay then.

But the one that gets me the most is "People of Color" to describe racial minorities. Every time I hear it, I instantly think of how I imagined my great grandparents would have spoken in the 1920s. I mean its like they found a way to go back to calling them "Colored People", which kind of makes my skin crawl a little bit. Might as well call them "Darkies" at that point. It is also a stupid term because, if you want to get autistic-ally technical, everyone is colored. I mean white is a damn color, so aren't we all colored?

Another one would probably be when certain people habitually use the word "autistic" about 10 times in the same paragraph while they tip their fedoras, stroke their neck beard, and get Cheeto dust all over their MLP figurines.

I'm not sure if this counts, but clickbait news articles that say "this thing I liked/supported failed... AND THAT'S A GOOD THING!" or "Why people want you out of the way... AND THAT'S A GOOD THING!"

'Patrick Melrose' is the Cumberbatch-iest show ever made - and that's a good thing

Harrison Ford Did Not Attend The 'Solo' Premiere — And That's a Good Thing

He gives ‘Atlanta’ anxiety. And that’s a good thing

'Vikings' Will End After Season 6, And That's A Good Thing

Government funds local news — and that’s a good thing

Fox Has “No Plans” for More X-Files—And That’s a Good Thing (arguably this is a good thing considering the current state of X-Files...)

You're Contagious, And That's A Good Thing

"WE ALL START THIS WAY AND THAT'S A GOOD THING!"

This is the most creatively bankrupt way to start a news article now. Everyone's fucking doing it, but on the bright side, its resulted in some good parody articles. But seriously, when the hell did this become a thing?

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I really hate this year's trend of gentle progressives using "hey - I GET IT" to softly disagree with people. "you voted for Trump? I get it, you're angry" etc. For example, the blog everyday feminism got complaints from rationalists when they did a tarot reading course, and responded with "we get it - this isn't for everyone"

Neurotypical- Same boat as cisgender, but for autists. Kinda stretching the topic here since not a lot of people are going around crying about autism in the same way that people are crying about transsexualism, but the word is just as bad.

Can somebody tell me why 'yes queen slayyyyyy' is a thing? I really, really hate it.
Also, is there a male version of it? 'Yes king slay'?

i think it may be a catch phase of tv drag queen Ru Paul

I can't stand the word "marginalized" anymore. Or "people/person of color", which is indistinct terminologically from the early 1900s term "colored people/person".

Valid and acceptance.

No I don’t have to accept you. I don’t know who the fuck you are, you have no effect on me in real life, and unless you are a close friend/family I have no more imperative to do anything other than be relatively polite in public and tolerate you. Fuck right off with the “you must accept me” bullshit. And if you are so weak-minded that you need random strangers on tumblr to tell you you are “valid” or you’ll kys, do a fucking flip and get over it.

"lmao" as punctuation is ridiculous. You're not laughing your ass off and you know it. You're just being a passive-aggressive self-righteous fuck.

Just like others said with "cisgendered," "sex worker" sounds like an attempt to "normalize" prostitution. And also to shame the use of "whore."
Nobody who says these things is aware of the fact that the vast majority of sex workers did not enter the trade voluntarily.

I feel like the word "harassment" has lost all meaning too. Like every other day there's an "online harassment campaign" against the celebrity of the day which only refers to a small group of mean comments that can be easily blocked. The horror.

I heard the elite use identity politics to keep the populace divided so they don't unite against the elite. Someone over in the SJW thread said that identity politics really started to take off after the Occupy movement IIRC.
Y'know that reminds me, did anyone else notice when Kayne West said "classicism is the new racism" racist shit in the media jumped tenfold while no one wanted to talk about why rich motherfuckers still get to lord over us like serfs anymore?

Also so sick of "cringe" and "not an argument". Motherfucker I wasn't making an argument when I said "you're a cock smoking bag of cat assholes and should have been aborted" I was making a factual fucking statement. Fuck you Peter Molyneux.
