They can always start from what they have and try to improve it a bit, if they can.
Also it would be smart to drop any kind of exclusivity deal, if they have one in place.

They should have an old fashioned journalist npc in the tutorial level named Newspaperman Ned or something, and when you talk to him he complains about being trapped there because he can't figure out how to dash.
