It's BTC I sent and the fee was 3/4 the total (I always have a little extra to cover the fee but it's never been greater than 1/5th the total)

EDIT: FYI the fee isn't based on a percentage of what you're sending, but rather its a flat fee based on the network congestion (i.e. if it costs $5 to send .005 BTC, it's going to cost $5 to send .5 BTC)

Unless you already got into crypto it's too late, at most you can invest in Etherium or Bitcoin and hope you aren't riding on a bubble, but the crazy gains you are hoping for are long gone, especially with taxes. If you bought Bitcoin two years ago you are still in the red.
