Turns out it was a Dell Trinitron P990, 19" 1600x1200.

Sony Trinitron tubes can be overclocked up to 254 Hz vertical refresh rate, depending on the resolution. Doesn't seem to affect longevity, from what I've read (no first-hand experience). You can even clock them beyond their nominal horizontal refresh rate (the kHz thing), but that's not recommended, for obvious reasons. There is a software called SAT (for DOS) or WinSAT (for Windows) to achieve that.

Additionally, a lot more can be achieved using interlaced modes, though GPU support for that has been bad in the past 10 years, with only Intel still supporting it via HDMI on current models, and even then it is only available through EDID hackery, if you want to get anything usable out of it.
