Natalie Wood anybody? Robert Wagner posted a tribute on the 44th anniversary of her death.
I have a theory. The most plausible one to me is that Robert Wagner and Chris Walken were in some kind of tryst on the boat...maybe possibly drunk. Natalie walked in on them, Walken promptly lost his shit, and either intentionally or accidentally caused her head injury. Maybe he then knifed her thinking it'd look like she was either bitten by a shark or that she killed herself.
She was deathly afraid of water, so much so that Bette Davis, with when they did a film together in the 50s, called The Star (apparently it was to be a parody of Joan Crawford? @The Last Stand anything?) and there was a scene involving a lake or something. Natalie didn't want to do it so either they cut the scene or Bette tried to help her overcome her phobia. I can't remember. So in theory it wouldn't make sense for her to be wandering alone at night unless she was thrown overboard. I don't even think she would have used a lifeboat.
The two things I will always wonder about her is who caused her death, and is it true that Kirk Douglas raped her.
