This has to be the most cringey TV Show based on movie/s I have ever seen. Season 1 sucked but the first episode. Season 2 I quit watching after the first episode. It had a Bob Ross ripoff fighting zombies after The Necronomicon was read on a Antique Roadshow ripoff on PBS. I wish I was making this shit up. It was like a shitty AVGN cutscene or new Simpsons episode level of writing here.

The Christmas special had a werewolf giving a "stool sample" to a Dr to examine the remains of the person he ate (and yes they show it in detail) before attending a support group consisting of other were creatures... And one for black woman who's a furry bordering on otherkin and wants to be able to transform like they do before taking on an army of mall Santa's and the real Santa Claus who's out to kill them. I wish I was making this shit up!

Also good god the effects, you can't convince me this was just someone's furry fanfic they found and when questioned the writer about it they tried to pass it off as a new script

All of these new horror anthology shows have been shit, not only Creepshow but also nigger Twilight Zone, which got cancelled after 2 mercifully short seasons.

The last horror anthology show that was any good was the 1995 Outer Limits. Everything after that has been either too low budget, too tryhard, or worse (furry fanfic like the above pic).

it's a shame cause im not 100% sure but i think that's real makeup effects and really good makeup at that if it is. Too bad it's wasted on the drug trip of a special i just described, I could see those effects being in something better like an actual werewolf movie or an island of dr moreu movie.

Showtime's Masters of Horror was good, if inconsistent, some episodes were bad but some were great.

I really wish it could have gotten at least one more season, it's always bummed me out how short lived it was.

I haven't seen that one. There are a few I have never seen. I haven't seen any episodes of the 2001 Twilight zone for instance, and also the 1980s revival I only saw one or two of and I wasn't that impressed.

The Ray Bradbury stories one that used to have on USA was pretty good though I haven't seen it in a long time. I used to have shitty low res downloaded captures of every episode of Freddy's nightmare but I never watched the whole series. Be nice to get a proper DVD or Blu-ray release of that.

I am probably the only person I know of who likes horror anthology shows and dislikes tales from the crypt. I thought it was too unserious all the time and that grated on me very quickly... I never liked EC comics take on horror anyway so that's probably part of it.

I should have know that Twilight Zone was going to suck, but I was still hyped for it, never bothered to watch it though after hearing about some of the episodes.

It was a 2002 Twilight Zone, not 2001, I haven't seen it yet either but it does have a cool opening.

However the fact that one episode stars Jessica Simpson does not exactly inspire confidence, I'm sure it's still better than the recent one and the irony is the 2002 Twilight Zone was the first to have a black host, beating the CBS All Access one by almost 20 years.

I saw a few Ray Bradbury stories as a kid although I don't remember much, I do remember the episode based on The Veldt scared me though.

Personally I love Tales From The Crypt.

It's not that a black host couldn't work, but Jordan Peele turned himself into a gimmick and hit you over the head with his BLACKNESS. Plus the show sucked anyway. I highly doubt the more low key Whitaker did such a thing (I am still willing to give that version a shot, though unlike you I don't care for the rock theme).

I heard mixed things about the 1980s one; that it was a bad imitation of Tales from the Darkside (which I like and just watched every episode), but I haven't explored it to see if that characterization is accurate.

It's mostly a bunch of Hollywood bigshots and trendy actors (of the time) making something that sucks on purpose to showcase HBO's relaxed content restrictions. Best thing to come out of it was Demon Knight. Everybody remembers the Crypt Keeper but it's tough to remember any episodes...

80s TZ had some weird stories with ambiguous resolutions. Not the most consistent show but sometimes they really got it right.

I'm watching Witching Season solely because I like the intro. The first episodes have been rough. However, a good intro is mandatory: Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Tales from the Darkside, Monsters...

While I haven't seen it yet I can guarantee you there's nothing in 2002 Twilight Zone highlighting the fact that Whitaker was black, they just hired him because he was a good actor with enough gravitas to the Rod Serling thing.

Here's something really wild I just remembered, even Forest Whitaker wasn't the first black Twilight Zone host! In 1994 there was a made for TV special where they filmed two "lost episodes" of the Twilight Zone, scripts Rod Serling wrote but were never originally filmed and guess who was the host? James Earl Jones, so the Jordan Peele Twilight Zone was beaten by... 25 years.

That's one of the things that's dumb about modern Woke culture is people acting like they're breaking new ground when they're not.

I forgot to show my thoughts on the 1980s Twilight Zone, I've seen a few episodes, it's not great but they're were fairly interesting, the intro to that one is pretty cool although it's radically different from all the others, that coupled with no host makes it feel not much like Twilight Zone at all.

Monsters, what a great intro that show has, it's also always blown my mind how Tales From The Darkside's intro manages to make bright, sunny footage creepy.

Please tell me your talking about Peel's twilight zone being canceled. That would make my day.

Not only 25 years, but with a better beloved black celebrity doing it first. Eat dirt Peele

Both seasons have their entertaining episodes, but wow are the dips in quality whiplash-inducing.

The episode about the feminist killing her obnoxious lover? Great, loved how it's a relatively mundane horror tale and a psychological reflection on the cannibalistic nature of the modern feminist movement. The ones about fat eating leeches and the guy who turns into a blob monster are fun shlock horror.

But then we have the absolute cringe-fest that was the holiday special (which as OP pointed out is just furry apologia), a WW2 werewolf and Nazi story that manages to be boring, and some dumbass retelling of the Monkey's Paw. Sometimes you gotta turn your brain off to get anything from the show.

Channel Zero is better anyhow.

I don't know anything about this show but one of my spiders was used in an episode that filmed a while back. I don't know if the episode he's in has come out yet, but if you see a little mexican red knee tarantula that's probably my boy.

There are two episodes I remember watching as a child from TftC, I don't remember the names of the stories, but I do remember the plots.

One is about a man looking for the human soul, and he finds out it quickly leaves after death so he has to be fast with snagging it. He kills one of the guys helping him, and gets the soul.
The dead man comes back to life, and wants his soul back.

The other one is about a escape artist or magician who was some how implanted with a cats 9 lives, and uses those extra lifes for life threatening " magic" acts where he dies, but comes back to life. Of course when he just about out of lifes he is persuaded to do it one more time, and has a horrifying revelation while he about to die again that. UH OH THE CAT ALSO DIED DURING THE OPERATION AND THAT USED UP A LIFE.

I really want to rewatch TftC now. :story:
