I'm really pumped for this, I've always preferred CTR to Mario Kart.

I hate how much they emphasize Crash being reetarded now, though. Like in the original games he was a big dopey monster, but now they really emphasize it.
:powerlevel:
Tbf, this could just be a tentative box art, I recall N Sane crash looking a lot dumber on the mockup cover

Loved this game so much, pretty psyched it's getting remastered. The only thing that could make this better is if they included everyone's favorite asskicking hillybilly, Pasadena O'Possum from TTR as an unlockable character.
Pasadena.png

Some of Pasadena's most memorable lines:
"Two plus two equals... um... cornbread?"
"Well, nothin' a lil' bacon fat can't fix."
"This game su-uuucks!"

And my favorite bit of good old-fashioned sensible life advice, applicable to any situation you might find yourself in:
"Just spray some Cheeze Whiz down there, it'll be alright."

Unfortunately it looks like Coco is the only playable female racer :(

There is a rumor that the trophy girls are being converted into racers, might reconsider if true
When I was a kid and played CTR for the first time it was my hope that the trophy girls would unlock as racers if I beat the game and completed all the challenges. I'd like to see that happen now, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Not trying to be all "muh feminism", but I don't see why there aren't more female characters. (Which there could be, the devs might want to keep some things a surprise.) Bring back Yaya and Pasadena, make Nina Cortex and Tawna racers. Throw in Evil Coco too! Sure she was cut from Twinsanity, but she still has a fan base.

I'm also disappointed that the custom pit stops for each character seem to be gone.

It's not a huge deal, it was just something special for each character that makes playing the game for the first time extra exciting. Tiny was lifting weights, Coco was surrounded by huge computers displaying coding screens, everyone had their own little environment. It was nice.

I had forgotten about the pit stops. They should definitely bring those back. They're not essential but the extra bit of character is always nice to see.

The girls being entirely gone would be kinda disrespectful though since they were meant to represent women who helped ND make Crash games
I actually didn't know that. They should definitely bring them back if that's the case. Plus the outcry seems to be very in support of them existing.

Yep, these four bandithots are also based on these four people, so by removing them, they’re removing their mark on Crash’s legacy

If anything the girls would be one racer with multiple skins, in CTR they all used the same body and rig and they just dressed them differently. IIRC the remaster has different skins for each character that are entirely cosmetic.

mornin’

So far it’s a good remake, though AI can be either rubber bandy or braindead at times, especially in Nitro Kart levels, hitboxes sometimes feel either too big on walls or too small on items, the added voice clips and bots overusing cosmetics can be grating at times, and I hate how pit stop requires an internet connection, especially when something like SSBU spirit board doesn’t.

However, the models (including the dreaded “censored yoga pants girls” look good, I like the extended outros and introd bosses have, despite it being 30fps, it’s super stable on everything, including Switch, the option to switch to the classic OST is neat, the car handling itself is quite smooth, and the crystal stages are just as shit as I remember them.

It’s fun, though there are definitely things that need patching if Beenox really wants to stand toe-to-toe with Nintendo and Mario Kart

Even DSP's autism can't kill my hype for this game and looking at the video is just giving me some nice childhood flashbacks. Glad it runs good on the switch since that's all I got until the eventual pc port. Now I just have to wait until the Spyro Remastered port comes out

The only problems I've seen from both the PS4 and Switch versions of the game are the pretty noticeably long loading times. Hopefully it's better on PC but jeeze, almost a full 2 minutes in some cases and it's pretty obnoxious that you load in between menus as well.

Load times didn't seem TOO bad when I was watching someone stream it, but they were also on a PS4 Pro. I'm not sure how much a difference it makes.

My guess is the PC version probably won't be too much better unless you have an SSD. At this point if you game on PC there's no excuse not to have one with how cheap they've become.
