The only person's performance who I'm looking forward to is Alex Hassell. Dude's actually a great actor and hopefully will take some of the uber-edginess out of Vicious and make him a better character. Besides that there's nothing I'm looking forward to about this at all.

I think it's funny how with the casting, they chose people of races that fit exactly into the stereotypes of the characters. Seems more racist than just having the whole cast be white or asian.

Spike, played by an asian guy as the asian cool guy who does martial arts.

Faye, played by a latina woman as the crazy latina chick who uses her sexual appeal to take advantage of men.

Jet, played by a black guy as the stoic, yet occassionally aggressive black guy who listens to a lot of Jazz/Bebop music and has dreams about Charlie "Bird" Parker.

It's funny how whenever (((they))) try to "racialize" a cast of characters they just use stereotypes, and the Redditor masses buy it up because "zomg diversity guis!"

The race swapping is so fucking bizarre because this is the one adaptation where they could've been super diverse while still being pretty faithful to the source material. Faye's explicitly a gypsie/Romani and I literally cannot think of representation of that in any sort of mainstream media. And with the fro and Spiegel surname Spike is clearly supposed to be jewish, you can even make him a super dark skinned Israeli jew if you want. I swear at one point they were even gonna race swap fucking Ein because they though it didn't matter he was a corgi, but at least they changed their mind there

The anime gave them a blank check to write whatever sort of genderqueer nonbinary POC they want for Ed so I can't wait to see the trainwreck
She was bullshitting with the Gypsy thing, it was later revealed that she was supposed to be Asian.

With how they shit up Faye what are the chances Punch is some sassy gay black guy and Judy is some uggo with fake blonde hair wearing nothing sexy at all?
There's definitely no way Judy is still going to be hot, can't have sexy women, not even one, in Current Year media.

Netflix forces every show adapted from "original IPs" into a specific format with serialized storytelling in an effort to replicate the success of shows like Game of Thrones. Because of this it was already certain that Cowboy Bebop will be a disaster as well, especially since the original series was episodic.

Netflix’s algorithms say that a continuous story with lots of cliffhangers and twists will result in the most watch time, so Netflix takes original IPs in and what comes out is generic sludge that looks and feels the same as the last few Netflix TV series, perfect for binging.

The fact that they're hiding or not showing Ed is interesting. I'm sure lots of youtubers are going to have a field day with this show and shit out mutliple videos that will either defend or demonize the changes from 2D to 3D.
This version of Ed will probably make Jar Jar Binks look dignified in comparison.

If the live action anime does not keep Edward the way she is, then it’s proof that “diversity” is just a sham created to make North American anime watchers look superior than the Japanese watchers.

With that out of the way, I just want to state that Edward did nothing wrong in the anime version. She was the great contrast to Faye and we need more hackers like her today.

It just keeps getting worse, Bebop is not Bebop without the episodic adventures.

I do remember when people kept floating their ideas for a live action Cowboy Bebop back in the Aughts, with photoshopped posters and everything and I thought "a live action Cowboy Bebop would definitely be a bad idea", then and even moreso now.

In the manga she had a love interest named Tomato, which is what her computer is named after

This can't even qualify as shitty cosplay. Shitty cosplay at least makes an effort. Cho looks like he is wearing one of his dad's suits to impersonate Spike, Shakir looks like a biker bro or something, not an ex-officer of the space police, and don't get me started on Pineda's outfit. She's dressed like some back alley hooker ffs.
They've hired a latina who has no tits or ass.
Faye could've worked as a Latina had they gotten one with an actual figure.
I expected Faye to look like the live action Starfire. I mean, I'm not going to watch it but at least she doesn't look like a dumpy prostitute.

Why do they hate red heads so much?
Faye's explicitly a gypsie/Romani
She's Singaporean. That was a lie from her in Honky Tonk Woman. Of the cast she is the only one with a specified ethnicity. Spike is some sort of Asian, Jet is some white guy, and Faye is Singaporean. Ed is maybe Turkish or something.

Unfortunately it seems they will troon Ed out (Or make her nonbinary because fuck 12 year olds having imagination man!), same as the guy who was fed experimental drugs and grew breasts as a result in prison.

It's not a good sign the only interesting thing I can take away from the trailer is the set design looks halfway decent and Yoko Kanno. I'm not hopeful, but there was an attempt.

Only thing I really don't like so far is Faye's hair, it's weird to me that they seemed to have spent a little while styling Spike's hair and Jet's beard to get them right but with Faye it feels like they put a very low-effort Ramona Flowers wig on her and called it a day.

Like, come on, at least give her a hairband... Faye doesn't really look quite as 'Faye' without one.

Overall though, as long as there's fun Jazz music and great fight scenes with Spike, I'm all for it.

Is she wearing a cut off version of Quill's Starlord coat from Guardians of the Galaxy?

What's with her fucking outfit as well? I understand it can't translate well to reality but they didn't make an effort. The only similarity it bears to the anime is the yellow vest, and that is very different in design to Faye's.

Less wannabe Ramona Flowers and more this please:

Speaking of which, from that Twitter promo it seems they will be doing the church shootout scene, which makes me wonder how this scene will translate.

If they can't even get her fucking hairband right, imagine how much they'll fucking butcher Speak Like a Child. That episode may be somewhat unfocused, but it has some of the best writing ever made by a human.

Are they splitting it up in multiple seasons? Please God, can you make them be cancelled before they get to it? :(
