if this doesn’t convince new anime fans of this generation that sometimes live action TV/movie versions of celebrated works do not work, I don’t what else will.

That set picture is embarrassing. It absolutely looks like a bunch of losers on the comicbook pop culture consoomer convention floor.

And making Faye look like Ramona Flowers is an absolute insult to the character. Faye Valentine is supposed to look sexy. She's essentially a deconstruction of the femme fatale character, so yes, her physical attractiveness is vital to adapting the character correctly.

I'm just going to point to my current avatar and leave it at that.

Netflix is having a stream showcasing upcoming shows. I'm hoping to see some footage for the live action shitfest that's gonna be Cowboy Bebop.

Never mind, they didn't show shit. They just said that Yoko Kanno is going to be the composer. Which we already knew. The show is going to be released in the fall.

The fact there's no preview or any other stills that have come out when it's expected to be released later this year screams it's either not happening (e.g. High Guardian Spice), or it's going to be dumped onto the service with no fanfare. Doesn't even matter Yoko Kanno's name is being attached to this project at this point, everything that we've seen about it so far has been awful.

So they're just using the old soundtrack? Or is she actually gonna make new music? Regardless, a lot of fans aren't going to be watching this.

They say she's making a new soundtrack. That might be the one good thing to come out of this.
She may make amazing music, but if she has no clue what she's writing the music for (like if she hasn't seen scenes beforehand), or if the editing team uses the music in the wrong places, it's going to suck/be forgettable.

Does she not score to picture? Anyway, the only thing good to come out of this is Kanno getting a nice, fat paycheck.

Think these days she does, but back then when literally everything gets animated up to the last possible minute (still true to an extent), she had to make do with what was readily available. Brain Powerd is what I was thinking of when it comes to her music not fitting in because they didn't really match with the scenes to leave an impact despite sounding good otherwise.

Ever since Origa passed away I'm sure she's struggling

Yuki Kaijura could do it. Or the lady who does Kingdom Hearts. Yoko Shinamura?

Anyway I thought they shut shit down when ppl got covid

And sorry John you're too damn old as Spike. Should have gotten Daisuke Tsuji

Oh by the way......

Actress playing Ed is Maori. Just when I thought I was never gonna be over Faye being a fuckin beaner....

All these film studies majors that minored in Afro-American studies still don't know how to make a Blaxploitation show like Cowboy Bebop? That's why I said it'll fail due to sheer incompetence.
The show isn't Blaxploitation though, it doesn't even have the tone. There's an episode like that though: Mushroom Samba, even had black characters, one was a woman modeled on Foxy Brown.

If film studies majors with Afro-American studies watched Cowboy Bebop, they’d turn Faye into a black wom with a purple haircut, while claim that Ein is not “black enough”
