I thought they were going to be working closely with Sunrise? Did they say "Nah, fuck this" and leave the project, or has Netflix paid them bribes to not get too closely involved?

Bebop is probably the anime that would most lend itself to a live action adaptation, it really sucks to think they might screw it up.

Now is the time Watanabe should be make a sequel to Cowboy Bebop.
Maybe not a direct one, but just a new story following new characters, but set in that same world.
Or they could do a "Chronicles of Faye" series focused on her, as I felt she kinda got the short end of the stick when it came to her story, with it being pretty left open.

there was a prequel story around the turn of the century about Ural Terpsichore (the husband of that one chick), one chapter got translated for, I think it was Newtype magazine (the Japanese version)'s English language web site, no clue how much there was in Japanese media of the story

Faye could easily have her own show, like a space Fujiko. Jet and Ed can make cameos.

She really could and this time they could rectify one the big wrong of the original TV series and movie and that's finally show her naked, hey you mentioned Fujiko and 2012's The Woman Called Fujiko Mine had nudity.

Have we heard anything about the music for this adaptation? Screwing up the music would be truly unforgivable.

I will say one big problem with making any new Bebop is you couldn't replicate the "look" of the original, it'd be too clean and digital and lack the texture of the cel animation of the original, so maybe it is best left well enough alone.
Still, I do feel like there was potentially more story to be told with Faye and there's also the chance to finally show her naked.
Again, I have to bring up The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, something like that is what I picture.
