Even before learning she's from Singapore, I always felt that Faye has the look of an Asian woman compared to the rest of the Bebop crew. She's light-skinned, is taller, and has a fuller buxom than the average Asian, but she has the appearance when it comes to her hair style (and its texture), the shape of her eyes, and the shape of her face.

Also helps to keep in mind Faye was from just before everything went to shit on planet Earth. She's from several decades before the start of the series, so she actually stands out a bit and can be considered an exotic woman, in that regard. I think she's even been commented on as such.

Speaking of Faye Valentine, I've always thought a good idea for a Cowboy Bebop sequel would be to make her the protagonist, as her story is just kinda left hanging, which feels a little cruel.

Also they could right the worst wrong of Cowboy Bebop and finally show us her tits, which the movie came close to doing but chickened out, I'm still pissed about that.

Lol yeah. The tranny tits were gross, but that was the whole point. Dude got fucked for life.

Yeah, there was even nudity in the TV series, so in theory they could have given us at least a brief Faye tit shot and they definitely could have done it in the movie, being a theatrical movie and all.

It was the one time Bebop was perhaps too clever for its own good, too "arty" and should have been a little more exploitive like most anime.

I mean damn, pretty much any other anime but Bebop would have shown her tits, compare to it's cousin Outlaw Star for example, which showed Aisha Clan Clan's tits.

In all fairness, Bebop actually was almost canceled for its violence because Japanese TV started being strict about violence in anime thanks to Evangelion, though it got picked up by a satellite channel to air in its entirety. Nudity probably wouldn't have been affected for all I know ("Jupiter Jazz" still aired, and you got Brain Powerd that aired the same season that had full-frontal female nudity in its opening unless that got censored for broadcast), but I guess even when it was being a love letter to cinema (and they totally could've done a shout-out to exploitative or other art-house films where nudity was rampant), they didn't really want to rely too heavily on fanservice. Faye's your typical femme fatale and she shows off a lot of leg, but I guess in a way, she subverted expectations by not showing off more skin than she really could've. Hell, Judy of "Big Shots" showed more skin than her, and the black lady from the blaxpoitation episode I think looked sexier than Faye, and that might've been intentional.

Also I believe the Outlaw Star episode you're talking about (the onsen episode) with Aisha's boobs didn't air on Japanese television.

Ah, I didn't know that about Outlaw Star.

Well, whether they could or couldn't have had nudity in the TV series, they definitely could have had it in the movie and even came close, but it was just a tease.

Heck, nudity aside they could have had a little more fanservice for Faye in general, she's one of the sexiest character designs in anime history and the only real heavy fanservice moment in the TV series was when she was in a bikini once, we didn't even get to see underwear, which is surprising considering it's anime, just imagine Faye in lingerie (hey, that rhymes!)

I appreciate that Bebop had bigger things on it's mind but nothing would have been harmed by adding some pulpier elements, compare with Gunbuster for example, an anime that gets surprisingly emotional by the end, but one that also showed all the main girls naked, part of what's fun about anime is it's the ultimate "have your cake and eat it too" medium.

I just really love anime titties, you guys.

I dare you to watch Eiken Club

Anime series have been getting their episodes pulled from TV broadcast or faced risk of cancellation for "realistic" violence have been a thing since at least the late 70ies. Plus the Japan Govt. gets twitchy as fuck when any violent incident happens in or near a school and they start swinging censor hammer at everything with a hint of violence and kids in it.

there is a latin country with a big Japanese Population. you could find an actress there i bet.
For Central and South America, Brazil is the best bet with 1.5 to 2 million Japanese living there, Next is Peru and Mexico as each have over hundred thousand.

Does John Cho have the martial arts chops to even begin to do all the fight scenes?
Are they even allocating the budget necessary to properly portray the western-futuristic environments and circumstances from the anime?

I predict John Cho is gonna smirk too much.
See, when Spike smirks in the anime, he's actually conveying emotion. When John Cho smirks, thats just him being a celebrity.

I predict that they will totally fail the story by making the subtle and intelligent movement of the anime, and turning it into some generic color-by-numbers sci-fi action. Losing all the nuance and aesthetic of the source material in favor of some subpar Serenity/Firefly.

So Cowboy Beebop is the next dumpsterfire right after The Witcher, I assume.
Thanks Netflix, nobody asked for this. I think it's time to reconsider my Netflix subscription.

The trouble with Bebop is it really needs to stay anime, because if you tried to do movies, the stories would be too truncated, but if you do a TV series, as they're doing, you probably couldn't realistically have it budgeted enough to do it's sci fi setting justice.

That's what's great about anime is it can allow things that would be too expensive for a live action TV series, it's much like comic books in that way, only recently has special effects technology gotten advanced enough to really bring comics "to life" and do it justice.

Sorry, but I just won't be able to take a black Jet serious.

YO SPIKE
DINNER BE READY
Asian guy doesn't even seem that bad to play Spike, but (as mentioned before) looks way too old. Keep in mind that Spike "died" at 27.
Also, are there any news about Ed? Is she gonna be some trans boy?

Why do people love remakes so fucking much? I mean some people must love these remakes if they keep making these steaming piles of recycled garbage. I genuinely do not know what the demographic for this is.

There was recently an HBO or Netflix or whatever adaptation of the first book in the Altered Carbon series that managed to do cyberpunk future dystopia pretty fucking well IMO. The plot was a bit of a hackjob but I had no issues with the set design or effects.

There wasn't anything tremendously fancy in Bebop visually speaking. Some kung fu fighting, some gun shoots, and some shots of spaceships flying around - all of this is shit easily accomplished with even low effects budgets. The biggest area they could fuck up would be sets - it would be really unfortunate if they green screened a ton of shit instead of building some decent decorations and choosing locations well.
