No it doesn't make sense since almost all remakes of either anime or Western animated movies deviate from the original , and some of that is simply just because of the change in medium. I mean come on. How are you supposed to recreate some of the things done in an animated show or film live? It isn't, and will never be the same.
Remaking something to open it up to a broader market worked in the past, it was no different when Hollywood remade a couple Japanese movies like The Ring.
Anime is in a similar situation, where a real-life remake could open it for a vastly broader audience and it can be marketed on its popularity. These are strong economic incentives to do it and it isn't a foregone conclusion that the resulting remake will be bad automatically.
That's my original point, making a remake isn't the problem, a remake can be good, the problem is that all these remakes we have seen felt it necessary to deviate with plot and characters, to westernize and "modernize" them and the result was always utter trash. Add to that some agenda that gives you blunt head trauma with how hamfisted it was and a production crew of talentless hack frauds who think their farts smell like rose water and we end up with remakes that are a disgusting insult to the originals.
And I have to disagree hard with your statement about the change of mediums. The cinematography of anime and regular movies are different, but that matters not the tiniest bit. You can still adapt it and make it look visually stunning and get every point across. It's like saying you can't adapt a book, stage play or musical to be a movie - it's nonsense. What is there to an anime that can't be recreated irl (outside of super-deforms for comedic effect)? And if there is something that can't be carbon-copied 1:1, you can still work around it. This is literally the only thing that gives a "raison d'etre" to a real-life remake of an anime: To be able to adapt it to the new medium in a new and interesting way. Both animation and real-life movies have their limitations and perks, the interesting part in making an adaptation is playing up the strengths of the medium.
The point is:
The issues with Cowboy Bebop weren't the changes originating from the change of medium. The atrocious dialogue, the atrocious plot, the atrocious characters, the atrocious casting, none of this is resulting from it being a real-life show. All of this was terrible writing and people who don't understand what made Cowboy Bebop so entertaining, who tried to "fix" the show to appeal to their own political views, forced into the show.
Blaming anime fans for the cancellation of this wokeified abortion. Knew it.
It's a coping mechanism they have been using for half a decade by now. I genuinely wonder if they never wisen up to how shallow, stupid and desperate this is. If this was such a great hit, if people loved it so much, why was it cancelled?
It's just toddlers throwing a tantrum cause their new toy broke, nothing else.
The very epitome of privilege right there, Naomi. Why aren't you paying reparations to your POC allies yet?
I think your answer to that would be hidden in the "early life" section.
