Faye looks okay, but for fuck's sake, do we need her to be a match in hand to hand combat to Geezer-Spike?
Spike... well. I read comments he had no charisma to match the OG, but that's not true if you ask me. He has absolutely zero charisma full stop.
Waiting for info to emerge that Jet left the police over them being white supremacist stand-ins in this version of the story.

Overall 3/10. Could be worse, it's your typical uninspired SJW-wank-shit with the same old stock characters (HURR PWR GURL) and Whedonistic quip-garbage.
Not even worthy of getting mad over. It's trash, it'll get viewed by mongoloids rinse and repeat with Akira. Or NGE. Or whatever else these filthy producers release next.

...it's like if Lord of The Rings was adapted with the budget and style of Xena: Warrior Princess.
I know what you mean, but let's be honest... a cheesy 90s action adventure show done like Xena, but following the LOTR books made by people with passion... I could see that work out.
Sure, it'd be kinda cringey at times, but damn, if the heart is in its right place, it could still be totally enjoyable. Certainly better than what Amazon's been cooking up with Maori Hobbits :story:

And besides, I'd rank both Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex seasons up there with Cowboy Bebop... and GitS already got the CURRENT YEAR treatment, albeit in a format that only wasted like 90 minutes of my life to shit on everything I love about GitS and SAC.

Netflix Cowboy Bebop is going to blow chunks, we always knew that, so I can't pretend that I am surprised by any of this crap. If JLongbone watches it and tears it a new one, I'll be a happy man.

Isn't Spike supposed to be 27-28 years old? Not only does this guy not bear a single resemblance to Spike, he's also two decades older than the character he's supposed to be playing. And if they're going with the angle of "we aged him up" then that's even worse because he's supposed to be a charismatic and roguish man in his prime not some 50 year old.

Are we sure this isn't a sequel to the original show and this is Spike's autistic brother LARPing as him?
already knew the live action would be gay as fuck. i need to watch the original again, it's been too long.
Recently watched Jupiter Jazz on YouTube because someone spliced both parts together and uploaded it. What a great two parter that episode was.

I'm curious how badly they'll throw in one of the best harmonica tracks for their shitty nostalgia baiting.

Finally saw the trailer and its...something.

Almost feels like a low budget film despite this being a noir/ cyberpunk type of film. It feels utter dull and I think the anime had some wonderful scenery, especially of space that sadly isnt shown in the trailer.

Spike has the costume down right (and the hair a bit), but the actor looks way to old and doesnt have the suave demeanor that Spike is known to have. Kind of looks like some guy cosplaying as Spike and act like him.

Faye doesnt really have her iconic outfit on all the time and she's too happy go lucky compared to the cynical, and seductive version of herself in the anime.

Jet looks alright. Just way too young in the face, which makes this whole dynamic with him and Spike a bit jarring.

Ein of course is a good boy.

And...is edward not going to be a part of the movie? She's such a key member of the group, it would be so odd to not have her there for a Cowboy Bebop movie.

I guess it could be worse. I just feel like all these classic animes have now been adapted in some shape and form by hollywood. Wouldnt be surprised if they try to do FLCL next.

Gearing up to watch the anime series of Cowboy Bebop and Squid Game this upcoming Halloween. It should be fun, since for CB, it’s been almost two decades since I’ve actually seen it.

Considering how much power a streaming service like Netflix has in current day, I don’t think anyone back then could predict something like this happening. Either way, wish me luck!

Oh gawd. An already hipster indie coming-of-age movie handled by Hollywood? That's just unfilmable.

Netflix is working on a live-action One Piece.
God help us all. At least with Cowboy Bebop and Death note there is some semblance of grounding in the real world to grab onto in live action.

One Piece is so balls to the wall insane in its character and environmental design and dependent on the audience not applying much, if any, real world logic to said design and environment that its legitimately unadaptable in live action.

Unfortunately it isn't just Netflix who haves the "grounded in realism" bug stuck up their ass. As Hollywood been pozzed with it since the 90ies in far as capeshit, video game and anime adaptations goes.

Yeah, but I think Xena, and things like it could get away with what they did because they were original works. It would be degrading to see something that was good if not great be remade only to have a remake with a significantly lower production value. Worse still if its being remade by people who don't love the original material and are woke.

Well it's a series and they'll have Ed appear either in the middle of the series as a surprise or a tease for a second season. With how they miss the point of the tragedy of gren's character, they're going to make Ed a tranny or non-binary when Ed's gender literally meant nothing to their character.

Supposedly they casted a Maori kid as Ed. Only what I heard on this thread though. I expect Ed will be ruined as a character nut my real fear is them turning Julia into some sort of action girl that comes to aid the crew every so often, and not the central reason Spike looks into the past and present and feels as if he is living a dream he isn't entirely awake from yet.

What are you talking about? Ed is a girl, she said so herself in the preview for her debut episode.

I’m talking about how the show runners will make a big deal about Ed being “TRANS REPRESENTATION” or non binary, basically reducing the character to just “muh representation”

And she says it again in the movie (which pisses off a literal manwhore in a dress because he prefers boys). I hope to god Shitflix leaves Vincent and Elektra alone and I think they will, there's nothing to queer up or turn into MCU funnies with those two.

Probably late but according to a Netflix event that's streaming right now, they legit are just getting the original cast to reprise their roles for the Japanese dub of this shitshow.

It really goes to show how pointless it is for Japanese viewers.
