Look, just because Cowboy Bebop is one of the most Western anime out there and has elements of the Western genre doesn't mean it's an actual fucking Western.

Why do they have to have a basic bitch poster?

The only issue I ever found with visualising Jet as black was his surname. Having the black guy literally called Black felt off, even more so when the first name integrated into it to make his entire name a colour. That said now they've committed to that casting in live action I am curious if they're going to ditch the surname.
Jet Black sounds like the name of a protag in a blacksploitation movie, but to be honest that sort of vibe fits Bebop perfectly well. The anime constantly pays homage to those sorts of genre films of the 70's, but I highly doubt this adaptation's gonna care about keeping that vibe

Pretty much. For an adaptation that's gargling the modern day politics as much as this one seems to be having the black guy called Jet Black just feels like they are desperately hoping no-one picks up on it.

That was because the original dub wasn't approved by studio Khara, but once Netflix got a hold of it Khara got final approval on the subtitled and dubbed script Netflix would use. It's an interesting backstory.
Regarding the original dub is the same as most foreign dubs of anime with the various Japanese studios either not knowing or caring of the accuracy or "quality" of them. Especially for the older 80ies and 90ies dubs. Since most of them couldn't be arse to do the old adage of "if you want the job done right, do it your fucking self." Although some studios and directors did do just that were heavily involved in at least the English dub of certain anime.

Part of the problem with this show, as seen with the live-action OP, is that it's an adaptation of an adaptation. The original OP sequence was meant to evoke the visuals of 50s and 60s era jazz album art. Changing all of the English text to Japanese is just part of losing that connection. It's similar to the live action GitS film where they recreate a lot of the iconic imagery from the 1995 feature film without understanding what made them visually interesting in the first place. What we've seen of this CB adaptation is that the makers do not understand what the original series was going for at all.

You know Mr. Anime Man, you ever thought about just simply torrenting it?
His logic is incredibly flawed.

He's telling people to shut up when they're negative, and yet he's ready and willing to be vocally negative if he doesn't like the show.

Listen, if there are people out there who end up enjoying this, then I'm not going to spend time trying to stop those morons from liking what they like. However, I'm still going to talk shit when discussing my own opinions.

If people take the opinions of others personally when it comes to things like TV shows or movies, then they are pathetic.

Netflix adaptations might be one of the worst things that happened to anime. Have they even done anything right besides funding Devilman Crybaby. Can't wait for one piece to make Nami black.
The only times I've seen Netflix done things is right is allow anime studios to put their shows on it with no network restrictions and allow more easy ways to see anime. Otherwise it's original programming is terrible. I think the worst anime thing they made is probably their anime documentary where they basically glorify the abuse animators face as "Dedicated artists"

I've never even seen the original show but why oh why did they cast John Cho as that guy?
Because they saw complaints of asian characters being whitewashed in other anime adaptations so they decided to cast Spike as an Asian man to hopefully please people...despite the fact he isn't asian and making the actual asian character into a latina.

Spike is Japanese, his name was picked because Shinichiro Watanabe is a Westaboo and thought it sounded cool.
