have you ever wondered: how can i ethically and financially gain from the terminally online?
answer: cow stocks

every cow is assigned a ticker and common stock that can be purchased. if you think one of them is popular or has the potential to be popular, you buy shares and hold them. if they do something that makes them popular, more people will want to buy their shares, which increases their value, which nets you a profit. if they're inactive for a while or do something ultra-retarded, people will want to sell their shares back into the market, decreasing their value and hurting your portfolio.

example based on recent events: clavicular ($CLAV) is trading at $10/share. you, being a -maxxingscholar, buy 10 of these shares. after he decides to go full-on amos moses and hunt gators in the swamp, his thread grows in popularity from the community feature, more people are interested in him and want to buy shares, eventually raising the price to $20/share. should you decide to sell, you've now made a profit of $200.

right now this is just a dumb idea i've had, i have no intention of actually making people dump real money into this. at best it might be some webapp i throw together and you can just play with funny money.

What are the safest cows for your portfolio and how do you measure?
What about projections from PG right now?
Is portfolio diversity about board or tag?
Does posting and specially quality and effort affect your shares?

What are the safest cows for your portfolio and how do you measure?
big name ones like $CWC, $DSP and $RLPH would be high value like big tech stocks and typically trade the highest. little-known cows would be like penny stocks, high-risk high-reward should they do something insane in the future.
value would be measured based on what people are buying/selling at like bid/ask orders.
What about projections from PG right now?
a thread being moved from PG to the main forum would be its IPO, although certain exceptions could be made for threads that have been there a long time (i.e. $NULL)
Is portfolio diversity about board or tag?
all up to you
there could also be indices to diversify and lower risk, like one for $CWC and his many orbiters or various sektur inhabitants (call it $SKTRX)
Does posting and specially quality and effort affect your shares?
it'd be based entirely on what people are buying or selling at, value shouldn't be defined based on how fast or slow a thread is going
