Costco is getting annoyingly shit in various other ways, the price differences aren't as noticeable to me anymore, and the distance to get to one combined with the fact that walmart, amazon, and other online purveyors get you damn close (or better) than their prices sealed the deal - I let my 20+ year membership lapse.

Hot dog + drink is still pretty good but they're open about it being a loss-leader now. RIP the polish.

Sam's club is honestly not much better, but if you're going to warehouse club it up their checkout experience is top tier, the lack of receiptniggers for most cases is nice.

I think Costco and Trader Joes spend a lot of effort/money/time on marketing as "super best place for WASPs to shop" and it shows.

I'm not a member myself, but my parents can get enough things there that it makes sense for them. I will always remember March 2020 when everything went to hell, and they had just before that been there and stocked up on toilet paper because it's just one of the things they get there.

Is my Mandela Effect brain playing tricks on me but was there another warehouse bulk store called The Price Club or was Costco called Price Club at some point?

I wish they weren't so inconsistent with the stuff they have for sale. They'll have something that I get hooked on for maybe a month and then it's gone forever. I know there's probably some contract stuff that says how long stuff is sold for but me no care. Me customer me want, me angry when no get.

Also have fun going there on the weekends, at least where I live it's an ocean of octogenarians with no regard for how to actually navigate properly. Travelling through the aisles is a moment-by-moment gauntlet testing your spatial reasoning and non-verbal communication skills. By the time I get to my car I'm absolutely exhausted, it honestly might be the only store where traffic lines would be a necessary inclusion.

My favorite pick at the food court is the soft serve ice cream, it's delicious. Hot dog good, not really a fan of the pizza though.

No Mandela effect, Price Club was real and I think there was a buyout or something where Price Club became Costco. I remember my grandma going to Price Club when I was really little.

Their ground beef is the cheapest, just take it home, portion it into 1lb zip lock bags and freeze it. The paper goods are the cheapest anywhere so you pay 20 bucks every few months for toilet paper or whatever. Occasionally they'll have a great clearance deal, I got a dremel for 20 bucks that was normally 80 a few years ago.

Best place to get these? I got my first Costco membership this week.

Their liquor is actually pretty solid for the price, and Costco boozing overseas is a real treat since your membursheep is good for the entire corpo worldwide.
