Curly hair is a very particular type of hair that needs very special type of care. Most of the shit I see online is from niggers that barely wash their hair and put weird shit. I found ManesByMell channel by far to be most helpful. Fuck frizz and fuck humidity.

Discuss your routines and products you use ... etc. I had great experience with Aussie supercharged moisture for frizz. I don't like using hair gels.

I love straight hair, so the fact that mine is naturally wavy pisses me off to no end. Got so autistic with how much I used to straighten it that parts actually broke off. A couple years ago I started getting keratin treatment and it makes such a difference. I still use the straightener for special occasions, but for the most part I just dry it well (try to take it easy on the heat though) and get keratin every few months.

Also yes, fuck frizz and humidity.

I have curly hair with no one around me having curly hair or even knows how to deal with it. I always wished to have straight hair. Imagine being able to wake up and tie your hair into a messy bun and still looking good. :( Up until very recently, I always tied my hair in its natural state. Curly hair is such a pain in the ass, man :(

You have to learn to tame the curly hair, like you would tame a wild horse with curly hair. It has its good things, I swear. For example, if you get a bad haircut, it may not be too noticeable because your hair just curls up into a deformed puffy thing. Pretty neat.

My way of dealing with my wavy hair was to cut it down since junior high to the point I was called "marimacha" (the Mexican term for tomboy) at school. And in some rare occasions I let it grow until it reached half of my back in hopes the new thing I was going to try would tame it just to resort to the straightener again, at that point I would cut it again

Even with a short cut, my hair it turns into a puffy mess if I do not apply cream at last once at my job. Garnier used to sell one made for unruly(?) hair that I bought religiously but I think they changed the formula and wears off too fast now. I am trying a Sedal one that has the same effect but the aroma clings for a while to my fingers after washing them

I just switched styling gel and I’m probably switching back because this is just way too much volume. No frizz even after having been outside a few hours though, so maybe I’ll try to learn how to use it.

I’m doing a pretty basic cowash/cleansing conditioner routine. It works. It’s basically unmanageable otherwise, the slightest gust of wind turns it from looking almost intentional to huge frizzy mess.
One nice thing about curls is that I can take care of my own split ends if I don’t feel like going to a salon. Just brush it out into maximum frizz and start cutting. It’s curly, it’s not like anyone can tell how uneven it is in the first place. It started as a lockdown emergency measure but I’m sticking with it.

still figuring out how to use olaplex without the ends being ridiculously dry and everywhere else being greased the fuck up :(

Instead of a straightener, have you tried using a copper roundbrush with your hairdryer? Most people with curly/wavy hair dont blowdry but if you use a copper roundbrush while you do it, it straightens your hair really nicely. Then you can go in and touch up with your straightener and you dont have to worry as much about heat damage.

Also, i have extremely curly hair and i hate maintenance, so i use mixed chicks shampoo, no conditioner in the shower, towel dry 70% of the way and then detangler and leave in conditioner (still mc), finish airdrying.

If I need to refresh my hair between showering (which is like never because im a swimmer) i mix 1tsp of detangler with a cup of water in a spray bottle and dampen my hair, then comb out with a widetooth comb. If you add a tiny bit of clear hair gel to that mixture, it adds a little hold and glossiness but i only do that for special occasions, like if my hair is going to be braided or something.

I cant stand the feeling of products in my hair though. I will say, i grew up with a mom who didnt know how to take care of my hair, but this way my hair is extremely healthy and hardly ever frizzy, even in humidity.

Also fuck ever hair stylist and salon, i am the only person who will ever cut my hair. I would rather give myself a buzz cut (which i have before) than let one mother fucking cosmetologist retard touch me.

I generally like my hair, although there are days where they just drive me crazy.

I shampoo every two days, although my hairdresser told me to do it max. Twice per week. But I feel gross when going for longer then the 2 days.
I use Redken All Soft Shampoo and am really happy. From time to time I also use their conditioner which is pretty nice as well.
When I go out I usually add a leave-in treatment that promotes and hydrates my curls and stops frizz. This works excellent. I just put some into my hand and massage it into my hair.

Normally I just tie them into a bun or half bun (when I go out), but this is out of necessity, because my hair is to voluminous and I don't like the look.

I haven't, so thanks!

Unironically take the Brazil pill, they have really good products for all types of waves/curls at decent prices. I'm still deciding between Griffus Love Curls or Lola Ondulados, but those have helped a lot with my extra picky hair that hates everything. Other CG brands I tried seemed to be made more with nigger hair in mind despite the labels and left a complete mess in my head.

This looks like the time and place for me to plug my Lebanese hair care products so here goes

What I've been using is Sadapak Excellence Plus hair serum or whatever it's called (if you look up that name you should be able to find it). It's a bit pricey, but it counteracts the problem of curly hair naturally looking duller than straight hair. It also kinda separates the locks of your hair a little (not sure how to describe this) which both prevents it from tangling and gives the curls more definition. Apparently it also protects your hair from dirt and sun exposure.

I feel this. My hair seems like it's always inclined to curl up into thick ringlets. Brushing it out doesn't help because it poofs the fuck out and I end up looking like Cousin Itt with a perm.

Can the lady kiwis (kiwesses?) help a moid out? I have hair down to my ass and I've yet to find a men's product that doesn't dry my hair/skin out, smell like a locker room, or both. Is there anything out there that actually works with a more neutral scent to it, or am I just condemned to smell like fruit and flowers?

I would never recommend any curly-haired person to grow their hair out this much tbh. Mine used to be that long and detangling was a nightmare.

If by hair products you mean shampoo/conditioner, try Supernature. It has a vaguely pleasant smell but it's not very strong (depends on how often you wash I guess)

Look for fragrance free creams and gels. There's plenty, otherwise you're pretty much stuck with those smells tbh. If you brush your hair while it's wet, it won't poof up.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. It's a pain in the ass 90% of the time, but I have a sentimental/cultural connection to it. Definitely not a fan of it trying to wrap itself in knots when I'm doing nothing at all, but it is what it is. Thankfully my hairline hasn't ran north and it's still thick all over. Once I hit that old man wall, it's getting donated and I'm going shaved. Not gonna be that poor bastard fighting his combover.

Appreciate it. It's really an "any port in a storm" situation. I had to learn the hard way that shit like Axe/V05/Prell/Old Spice fries my hair and my scalp, and the stuff I use now is just  slightly better, but still has a loud scent. I envy women at times if only for shampoo/conditioner that actually work and razors that don't feel like trying to shave with a broken Coke bottle.

I feel bamboozled, I had it hammered into my head for years not to brush it while wet so that I don't "damage it" by a hair stylist.

I learn something new about my ex every day, today I learned she apparently wasn't a very good cosmetologist.

There's some truth to it. Brushing wet straight hair will damage it. Brushing dry curly/wavy hair however will damage it and you're more prone to breakage. Curly/wavy hair has different structure and needs. Most of hair stylists are mostly trained to deal with straight hair.

Brushing wet curls actually will damage them. Just not nearly as much as brushing them dry will. Best of all is brushing while you have conditioner in, to “lubricate” a bit. Even if it does damage, in my experience it’s the only way to avoid frizz, so what options are there really.

I just dry it a little with a microfiber towel so it's not dripping wet, then put some texturizing cream and brush it with a denman d3. To reduce the damage I use Lola Morte Subita's hair mask, that shit's magical even with the shittiest hairs.
