"COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Justin Montney lost his bride-to-be in a fatal car crash a few months ago near Calhan. Now, to add insult to injury, the videographer that was set to capture their wedding is denying a refund and threatening a lawsuit.
Montney reached out to KRDO for help after Copper Stallion Media threatened to sue him for defamation after he left a review on TheKnot.com explaining the situation.
He told KRDO he paid $1,800 upfront to Copper Stallion Media, a Texas-based wedding videography and photography company. After multiple requests, he said the company has continuously refused to give him or Alexis' family a refund.
Montney told us he understands they signed a contract saying the payment was non-refundable, but he believes -- since these circumstances were beyond his control -- the company should honor his request.
We've called and emailed the company for a response. We're still waiting to hear back."
The owner of this company went in hard on this guy mocking his dead bride on what would have been their wedding day, even bought the web domain of his name to redirect to their website. Archive

When the outrage mob showed up the owner posted that one of his employees had committed suicide over all the harassment she had received.

Here is a reddit post from 5 years ago detailing another round of scams he has done.
A few months ago, I found an ad on Craigslist looking for a videographer to shoot a 1-day wedding event. Everything seemed legitimate enough for a low-budget wedding videography service. Terms were discussed over email, and I shot the event as usual. Soon after though, things started to get fishy.
I tried to look up the company; Kustom Films, based out of Las Vegas, NV, but could not find any records showing the legal existence of this company.
After over a month, no one had been paid and the newly-wed couple hadn't been sent any videos or pictures. They had paid upfront, and had even dropped an extra 500$ for RC helicopter shots of the wedding, though I was never told this was part of the deal. Luckily, the bride works in criminal justice and decided to run this guy's information. This is where things get really sketchy.
Apparently, the man behind Kustom Films is a known wedding scammer named Jesse J Clark. He corresponded with me under the alias "Corey Ayers", but has also used the names Michael Collins, John Francis, Jaie Hart, and conceivably others.
All of Kustom Films' social media outlets (facebook, twitter, yelp) are populated with fake positive reviews that are hardly convincing. The few negative ones that haven't been taken down accuse him of everything from stealing video and pictures from their companies, claiming them as his own, to never sending videos to the couples at all.
This guy has been caught multiple times before, and just by looking at his operation, its apparent that he isn't very good at this.

His other fake companies include Surefire Videography, In Focus Studios, Magnolia Films, Wedding Filmology, and Film Monkey Studios.
He has been posting jobs on Craigslist in major cities across the country, including Miami, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
To freelance videographers and couples out there looking for wedding video services, be aware of Jesse J Clark and others like him who continue to rip people off.
To keep scammers like this from stealing from hard working freelancers and couples, ALWAYS get a written contract to define the terms of a wedding video, and be wary of anyone who demands up front payment for video services.
I only hope that no one else will fall victim to a scam like this.
