It's the cirkul waterbottle if anyone is interested in laughing at it. Most of the flavors cost about 3.75 or 4, which flavors like 6 bottles of water.... which just personally, I can just about drink per day, since I don't work a desk job. Either this would have to be a novelty, a rare treat, or I'd have to spend at least 50 a month just to drink flavored water during work hours alone.

Do people not know that herbal tea exists anymore or something? You can buy a box of 30 fruity sweet teabags for 4 bucks.
is there a name for these sorts of things? id argue adding syrup or powder to water doesnt really make it water anymore, but what is it? its not soda or juice.... its just like.... beverage

that aside, even if you really love the bottle design which, in my opinion looks a bit like a baby bottle but what do i know about style.... why cant you just buy the bottle and then pour offbrand power mix into it? its not one of em weird 'ONLY OUR BRAND'S POWDER WILL WORK, DONT TRY ANYONE ELSE'S ITLL LITERALLY TURN INTO MUSTARD GAS!' kinda situations, is it?

They clog up landfills with unrecylable used pods
Oh don't worry, they've found a way to "recycle" them... by burning the fucking things as fuel:

NPR in a rare moment of actual journalism dijo:
So what's an eco-minded K-Cup user to do? The company has a program called Grounds to Grow On for workplace K-Cup users to mail back their used pods. These get burned up as fuel — a less than ideal solution, Oxender says, but at least they don't end up in landfills. The company plans to pilot a similar program for residential users in the next few months, she says.

Just get a fucking French press or something Jesus christ. Or stick to tea. Paper based teabags (do not use the "fancy" pyramid bags as they leak enormous amounts of microplastic) are both convenient and biodegradable, loose leaf is even better but less convenient. I've heard some brands now sell coffee bags similar to teabags even.

speaking of which, i bought a shampoo bottle the other day and noticed the words "free of microplastics!" proudly displayed on the label...
it was in a plastic bottle.... im starting to think 'microplastics' are becoming the new 'organic' or 'sustainable'- corporate marketing buzzword that are completely disconnected from their original meaning
people used to call you a schizo for *noticing* it or being wary of it, but now that its le trendy and environmentally conscious, corpos can just slap the claim onto everything they like and retarded normies will slurp it up. cant wait for this to be another real problem we magically 'solved' by doing nothing except calling attention to it.

I bought myself a metal tea strainer a week or two back and it's made loose leaf tea just as convenient as pre-bagged.
Coffee-wise, I never found drip all that inconvenient. It takes 10 minute tops to prep a pot of coffee and that's if you have to clean it up from a previous brewing. The leftover coffee can be stored in a mason jar and either enjoyed cold or reheated in a microwave. Hell, blend some cold leftover coffee with a bit of ice, a pinch of cinnamon, and a table spoon or two of creamer and you've got the perfect iced coffee for hot days.

Slapping on that it's vegan, as it that weren't obvious in a shampoo/conditioner. That's common too.

That might not just be cynical marketing. For a few years it was trendy to add "exfoliation" to soaps and shampoos of various kinds by putting "microbeads" (also called "microplastics") into them. It worked, but people started to realize it was causing plumbing issues (little bits of plastic shouldn't get flushed down sewer drains, who knew?) so they've started phasing that out. Claiming "free of microplastics" might just be their way of trying to say "hey this won't fuck up your drains."

Of course, bragging about not putting something in your products that never belonged there in the first place could also be considered cynical marketing in its own right.

They've been doing this with soaps for a while too, ever since Lava soap started causing issues with their plastic micro beads a lot of your shop soaps (the kinds marketed for people like mechanics and welders that have the abrasive material in them) have made a point of pointing out that they contain pummice stone or some other material so people know "this stuff won't fuck up my sink".

I suppose that could be the case, but the modern discussion about microplastics has a complete misunderstanding of where they originate from.
Plastic bottles deteriorate into their contents over time, even if your shampoo was made with clean ingredients, you're still putting it in something that'll cause issues in the long run

Bragging about not having something in your product, and then putting it in a container made from THE SAME THING isn't exactly the end-all solution

It sucks if it's happening in a place you'll be staying for a quite a while like a gym or worse, your house.
Yeah, it sucks indeed. I need everything wired in my apartment because of that and it pissed me off that even my new LG TV came without a headphone jack, i need to use an adapter that plugs into optical for that. I can sorta understand it with phones, omit the headphone jack to make it more slim, but on a TV? To be fair, i knew before buying that the TV didn't have a jack and it's excellent otherwise, still doesn't make it any less retarded.
I have a personal vendetta against subscription-based water bottle flavorer cartridges.
How is something like this even a real thing?! :story: First time i'm hearing of it, too.

they'll make subscription based anything, man...
i was recently reminded that Chris Chan was subscribed to a subscription based CRYSTAL delivery service
fucking rocks nigger
i love me a cool rock as much as the next guy, but that shit isnt consumable, you dont need a new one coming in every month, and besides as a collector isnt all the fun in picking one yourself? one that really speaks to you? being sent a buncha generic ones from a company seems... inelegant...

the only two kinds of people who collect crystals are people who are into geology, and magic-space-hooha ladies. the former would probably be pretty picky in what they find, not any ol quarts dildo will do, and the latter....i personally knew a woman who was into that stuff and she would vet every seller and every crystal she came across for the right kinda '''''energy''''', so getting them from a mass produced subscription service feels like it would lack that natural chakra flow and what not

Anytime you think to yourself that a subscription based service cannot possibly exist for [thing] just remember that Juicero existed. Sure it went bankrupt pretty much immediately, but they had massive venture capitalist buy-in and there was, and still is, a legit cadre of hardcore Juicero supporters.

Juicero isn't actually that crazy of an idea in terms of subscription services, if anything SHOULD have a subscription service is something fresh and consumable like juice
that part makes perfect sense

Juicero failed because they weren't selling juice, they were selling tech and a 'lifestyle'

>there was, and still is, a legit cadre of hardcore Juicero supporters.
i find that hard to believe, except for people inside the company or investors
i dont think a single regular joe is a Juicero fanatic the same way people jizz themselves over Apple

Off topic, but that reminds me of something tangentially related that happened a ways back. I'd posted on a department store's FB about some troubles I was having with their website. The website issues were resolved, I went back to consooming, and completely forgot about the whole experience. I despise FB with a passion but unfortunately everyone I know is on it, so I try to log on semi regularly. Well, about a week after making the post to the department store's website, I revived a friend request from a complete random. I checked their page to see if it were a friend of a friend, but it turned out to be a 'psychic' with a lot of immaculately dyed hair, a taste for Tree-Of-Life 'Renaissance' gowns, and a habit of peering moodily through some foliage at the camera. My fb profile is private and not visible to searches so this sort of thing doesn't really happen to me. I eventually found the notification that, a week earlier, the 'psychic' had come across my post on the department store's FB and replied that she'd had a huge, dark, violent premonition about me and that I needed to contact her RIGHT NOW.

I thought about replying just to fuck with 'her', but I decided not to as I figured I'd either just get sent a link to a website where it wanted to me give them my credit card number to access, or else end up with a pack of professional Indian scammers trying to target my family when they realised that they weren't getting anywhere with me.

I blocked the profile without replying to it, but it is bemusing how a psychic scammer tried to latch onto me through a complaint post to a budget department store chain.

Anytime you're selling a "lifestyle" you will inevitably find someone who wholeheartedly lives that "lifestyle" and Juicero did. There aren't many of them, but the whole "cold pressed juice" thing has legit rabid supporters and there are plenty of them who live at the corner of vegan street and technophile court.
