Considering opening off-topic to guests and new users
I can't. It's my theory. People will see the off-topic board after being established and suddenly discover a large new side to the community they take interest in.

People aren't going to make accounts on the forum specifically to use Off Topic. They make accounts on the forums to talk about strange people and may or may not use Off Topic afterwards.
It only promotes user retention for our users that stay in off-topic and never post elsewhere.
You know who you are
Camp yes here.
But only as long as there is still inner circle and the supporters subforums. On top of getting those sensitive threads moved out like you mentioned. Feels subforum advocate #1
Otherwise I see no reason to promote more hierarchical structuring.
I don't think it's a good idea. There'll just be significantly more shitposting in offtopic.
I mean most regulars know to keep it in Inner Circle. Even Jon-Nyan has sense to post his shitpost threads there. But a lot of weens will just go there and shit it up similar to discussion which will then require more moderation.
Hell we've even been debating in one thread to increase the bar to entry for entering offtopic. I like Offtopic the way it is and I don't think it needs to change.
If they are truly discussion spergs then they already have access to off-topic with all their shitposts
If it stays closed off I wouldn't mind at all, but we might help prompt newer users to start posting by opening it to at least all our registered users then still hidden from guests. We are painfully exclusionary already. Maybe there are better ways to fix that though.
The problem I see with it is that, we could probably be flooded with alt accounts and weens who wanted to spam to get their post count up to be able to post in the main boards.
