So it's been mentioned plenty of times, but I didn't see an actual thread on The Office (US) here yet.

Basic discussion. Favorite episodes? Least favorite? Did the show go down hill after Pam and Jim got together? Did the show lose its dark humor and become something else entirely? What the fuck was that whole plot point with Pam and the camera man?

What season was the show at its peak for you?

I generally disliked the final season save for a few episodes because it made Andy a bigger dick than usual, never mind the stuff that happened the season before that (which I didn't mind). Nellie's the worst character, yet the writers insist we should give a shit about her.

And Threat Level Midnight is best episode, followed by Dwight's fake fire drill.

I really didn't understand why Nellie was a character. I thought her cameo was sufficient in Hiring Squad or whatever the fuck those committees were called. I can't say I laughed at all during that entire season, it was awful, the actors knew it was over and didn't care, that fat kid with the glasses sucked, I don't care about Erin, and Andy was a dick.
I liked the finale because I'm a sentimental pansy. Threat Level Midnight is a personal favorite, although Dinner Party is my No.1

I pretty much got bored midway through the fifth season
The earlier seasons were gold compared to everything else, so I can't blame you there. It doesn't get better as it goes on, unfortunately.

What are your guyes opinions on the UK Office? I find it on par with the US version, although the US office is way more fleshed out. The UK version knew exactly when to end.

You know, I've never really tried watching it. I've seen the first episode or so, and that's it. I know people rave about it, though, so I should give it a fair chance again one of these days.

I've been meaning to finish it. I understand that it would not contain any of the zaniness seen in the American version and I'm fine with that.

Went back and rewatched the 2nd season, and now 4 days later, I'm half way through the 3rd season. I forgot how good this show truly was.

I always thought that the worst episode was Jim & Pam's wedding, followed by the next episode "Mafia". So many stupid moments in the wedding episode, Jim slipping out during the rehearsal dinner that Pam was pregnant in front of her her old fashioned grandma, Andy tearing his scrotum or some shit, Michael ruining the wedding by having the office dance down the aisle to that Chris Brown song.....

I forgot how amazing the "deposition" episode was with Michael, Jan, my man David Wallace and Toby.

Well, The Paper is garbage and a terrible follow-up to the Office. Oscar's back (but he had a stroke and slurs half his dialogue). Remember how The Office was relatable, with characters similar to those you'd find in a normal office? Not anymore! All the characters are over-the-top and insane, and work in a profession absolutely no one can related to: a newspaper. Its filmed in a documentary style just like the Office, but not really because its actually just filmed like a normal sitcom but with characters' occasionally narrating their feelings.

What a disaster.

Well, The Paper
I saw the promo pic on imdb (phonefagging ATM just look it up) and of the 10 or so characters in the photo, 7 of them look like they were found in an archeological dig site deep in the uncanny valley. It's so bizarre that's the photo they chose.

Oh yeah my favourite character, the mild mannered gay 'straight man' (they're just like us!)
I'm joking, his character was fine but come on if he's supposed to be the draw, just scrap the project.

Thanks for this. I was considering giving it a look but it sounds like they sucked everything good from The Office. It sounds a lot more like Parks and Rec from this description. I'll pass.

It should have been Stanley. I would have gone with Ryan starting over at the bottom as a temp at 45, that could have been a lot of fun in the background. Especially if they had the manager really dislike him opposed to Michael fawning over him.
