Hobbyhorsing, a sport made up mostly of teenage girls and young women in Finland, requires gymnastic control and athleticism to complete jumps over obstacle, all while controlling a horse on a stick.

I'd be way more impressed if they were doing gymnastic stunts on horseback for real, like they're riding the horse, have to jump off of it to do tricks on beams and then jump back on before the horse gets away from them. That would be amazing.

i didn't know this was a real thing. when i was about 13-14 i went to horse back riding camp. it was tons of fun because we could ride horses like all fucking day and eat really amazing food. but some of the younger girls were really weird... like really weird. they would do the hobby horsing thing mentioned above like every day. they would fight over who won the race, or who looked the best. they even went as far as eating grain.
the fact that these girls would do this while having access to real live horses, is fucking beyond my comprehension.

I tried looking for the scene where she just rides the imaginary horse during the exhibition, but no such luck.

I remember having one of those horse heads on a stick when I was little. It's not comfortable at all running with a plastic stick in between your legs. Never would've guessed it would become a sport though. Guess that's what happens when women leave the kitchen.

My mom made those for me when I was little, using a broomstick and a sock stuffed with old newspaper, it was fun.

Now teenagers/adults are running around with hobbyhorses? Well... um... you know, toys sometimes mutate from children-only things into things adults tinker with.
