Stopped watching after a while, felt like watching the new star war films.

Same old shit repackaged, the call-backs were just paraded through and there was no humor that stood out, just one current-day commentary after the other.

I don't think I missed out on much, I stopped around the time where they are talking about the rules of succession requiring a male heir. After that it seems it would follow a predictable formula, the people from different cultures would get along, some female empowerment subplot, some commentary on modern conflict, etc.

gotta admit, expected worse and in the end was (mildly) pleasantly surprised. also quite a few jokes in there that would never fly in a "white" movie, and thankfully they never grabbed the low hanging fruits, even the "feminist" stuff feel more like 90's girl power than outright pandering. also makes sense in the story's context, so there's that.

it's formulaic as fuck thus being easily predictable, but that doesn't necessarily have to be bad. sometimes you just want wesley snipes chew through scenes in an 80's family movie format.
