Let me tell you why “Ya Boi” is wrong here. Much like when he accused Kneon of being a femme for a video where the host was actually Geeky Sparkles, it’s obvious he didn’t watch the video. Kneon opens with the fact that Marvel and DC, and larger publishers, will be fine. What Kneon goes on to discuss is the impact that this will have on smaller publishers, to the overall options readers have, and the effect on comic book retailers. Also noted is the fact that Diamond distributed a lot of products OTHER than comics that shops depended on. As a person involved in the retail side, I can tell you these items were often better sellers and with a much better profit margin than the ever-shrinking Marvel and DC. Kneon also discusses the subject from the standpoint of a person with actual skin in the game, as the owner of a retail space. It’s not “doomer gloom,” it’s an analysis of how this is going to shake up a model that needs to change, but at the same time may be too small and fragile for the ever-increasing number of shake-ups. It’s disheartening to see Richard, who often pointed out industry pros playing the “goo goo gaa gaa me no understand” game to “dunk on the chuds” now playing the same games to a smaller and smaller crowd. If he’s tired of videos about “guys talking about Disney princesses” being “gay” I don’t begrudge him that. You can walk away from watching that content QUITE easily. But at some point you have to ask yourself what’s “gayer?” Having a channel where grown obsess over “Disney Princesses,” or having a channel where you stalk and obsess over men “obsessing over Disney Princesses?”
