Kingdom Come is all Ross, Waid just helped out with the dialogue and story beats. The main character, Norman McCay is literally Alex's father, United Church of Christ minister Clark Ross.

High charisma means you can get people to ignore your flaws as if they do not exist. Lying about wealth, attitude problems sketchy past is easier when you are charismatic. No one on their right mind would see guys like Zack as a catch but that is what high charisma and gaslighting is for.

That was Steve Darnall through in through. You can read Ross's original 1993 proposal for Kingdom Come in the Alex Ross Millennium Edition (Updated and Expanded!) that Wizard Published.
I always found it funny that Ross looks like a character right out of one of his painted covers, even at Norwood Reaper level 7.
