What kind of colognes or scents are appealing to you and which ones are an absolute no and why?

I can't stand tea tree or patchouli, or the vaguely alcohol/flowery colognes on the market.

I generally like wood and leather scents, and don't usually enjoy flower or citrus. However, LeLabo Rose 31 does it so well that it's easily one of my favorites despite being quite flowery.

I like yellow Curve, it brings back good memories.

Classic aftershave and anything minty. Maybe I'm basic. But those work on me. Citrus is okay, it can be very "fresh" but doesn't stand out to me.

Most flowery stuff if it doesn't smell obviously synthetic ends up smelling like an old lady's powder. And hints of cinnamon are nice objectively as a smell but remind me of the potpourri someone would set out during the holidays.

Everytime I go shopping theres always some lady with a thousand tons of flowery perfume that chokes out the entire isle. It's like they've poured an entire can of lysol on themselves. They've totally ruined flowery scents for me. Can't think of anything else to like or dislike tho.

My favorite scents:

Rubber cement
Gasoline
Hoppes no.9
Garden hose
Garlic
Zep red food-safe sanitizer
80s permanent markers
The queue of Star Tours at MGM Studios

If someone could make a cologne that combines all these fragrances, I'd be content.

No joke the best one I have is one my grandma gave me, she sells Avon and bought "Mesmerize" as a Christmas gift for me a few years ago, smells really nice and it's the only cologne I've ever actually gotten compliments on.'

Ironic part is, her sense of smell doesn't work anymore and just picked it because she thought I would like the cool blue bottle XD.

detest patchouli and rose

like lavender, sandalwood, citrus, fresh laundry, Estee Lauder Daywear moisturizer scent (enough to pay $50 a pot), baby heads, cats

I don't like any perfume/cologne, particularly hate it if i can smell it on someone (particularly bad if you are 2 meters away from me, wtf?!) - gives me headaches. Ideally if you just smell like nothing at all.
I never understood why to mask your natural smell (as long as you are clean), i love the smell of my husbands skin. I don't need another layer to this.

I guess - terminal autismo.

Marilyn Monroe apparently smelled like carbolic soap & rose geraniums and she had the men of her world 'round her little finger, so probably those

More honestly, lily-of-the-valley has always smelled the way a tight hug feels to me, like coming home after a long time away. A scent that I've not seen as an eau de cologne/toilette that I might wear though would be rooibos tea (and maybe those chemically, solid white firelighters if I really wanted a wide berth at the supermarket)
Old Spice will always be an old codger smell though

i have a guilty love for kouros but unless im going to a club or something im not really eager to wear it around other people
