I want to send my college kids some seasonal care packages for November, and to include both practical and fun things. They're deep into the term, and they won't be home for Thanksgiving but will be home in December.

So, ideas? What would be good/ helpful/ useful/ fun/ creative for this time in the term? I'm long out of college, so looking to hear from those closer to my kids' ages what would be good at this time of year, or just fun creative ideas for Nov/T-day themed gifts.

They're deep into the term, and they won't be home for Thanksgiving but will be home in December.
Grocery gift cards and your own recipes for traditional Thanksgiving fare. You can fund a modest Thanksgiving for them if they want to put in a little work. This would also involve phone call advice while they're shopping and making, and a nice phone visit telling how it turned out.

  1. A good, high capacity and portable power bank
  2. A shit ton of replacement charging cables
  3. A galaxy projector for when they get high in their dorms
  4. lava lamp
  5. Gift cards to Walmart or somewhere else they can buy food
  6. Crocs

Go into your local woods. Find either a raccoon or possum, preferably a possum. Bring a broom to corral them and a cardboard box to put them in, then duct tape to seal it. Make sure they're non-rabid and do not show them any fear; do not let them beat you even before the confrontation begins. You must move decisively and swiftly, always remembering that God gave man dominion over all creatures. Stare them in the eyes during the process so they respect and fear you. Send them via air mail to your children (be sure to poke holes so the possum can breathe also put in some cat food in case the shipment is delayed). Surprise them, do not let them know it's coming. The possum may be a bit squirrely at first as he gets used to his temporary dominion, but rest assured he will calm down in time.

They will be one of the few kids with a pet possum/raccoon on their entire campus. You will be the cool parent forever, and they will probably be married with kids before you know it due to the attention their new pet/best friend will bring them as their beloved woodland critter around on a leash. I also have some suggestions for possum games that can be played with the whole family at Thanksgiving, provided they can become tame enough at that point. If not, there's always next year! Please ask me when the time comes. You will know when they're ready.

Lol, thanks all (or most of you/ I will send no balldos)! My kids have money and groceries covered. I'll include the cocoa and warm things, and am thinking of some flannel pj bottoms, plus some of their favorite homemade cookies. Also thinking (for one of them who likes it) a Thanksgiving or Christmas- themed lego thing or a 1000-1500-piece puzzle (I've got one who loves those). Maybe warm slippers, though one just bought (I bought) some, and I try to keep things even in the shipped packages so I'll have to figure out how to balance it out. But thanks again & will take any additional creative ideas!

Thick flannel cotton sheets.
Rubber boots and wool socks.
Rain coats or wind-breaker outer layers.
A nice cold weather hat and gloves/mittens.
A 200+ count box of hot cocoa or apple cider mix.
A sun lamp for Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Multi-color light bulbs so they can change to green or red when approaching bedtime.
Good flip-flops for walking around the house, I like the Floperator: https://www.combatflipflops.com/collections/the-floperator
Yellow sunglasses for night driving.
A doorknob camera for porch pirates.

Various supplements in capsule form to reduce stress, increase concentration, and facilitate health such as:
> a multi-vitamin containing about 100% but not much more of your required amounts for iodine and zinc, plus vitamin A, all the B vitamins, and other minerals.
> magnesium citrate or taurate for relaxation, but also a laxative if you take too much so be cautious
> vitamin C tablets for colds
> vitamin k1+k2+d3 for Seasonal Affective Disorder and colds
> l-theanine for relaxation
> glycine for better sleep
> l-tyrosine to improve focus
> inositol for uterine health and mood regulation

Also good:
> A rice cooker and a 40 lb bag of rice
> Beef collagen that doesn't contain anything but beef collagen so they don't accidentally megadose zinc or something
> Soup powder packets
> A map of local churches and the times at which they serve free community meals.
> Tupperware
> Toilet Paper
> Paper Towels
> Laundry packets

Start smaller, like 15-20 lbs. If the young adult isn't making rice a lot it will end up full of ze bugs.

An Instant Pot is probably better than a rice cooker, as long as they put in some effort to learn how to use it.
