Coast to Coast AM - Kiwifarms Open Lines

Art propped up a bunch of loons, but he’s classic 90’s talk radio. I still get misty eyed hearing the theme song. Jackalope Podcasts had similar content (The Shaman's Brew was my favorite Jackalope show).

Winamp. ❤️

Art Bell’s episode on shadow people was spooky AF. Good Halloween listening.

I dunno if you guys have found it yet but highdesert.space is a wonderful archive of Art's Coast 2 Coast broadcasts and beyond.

Winamp-esque theme, slick interface, and dynamically crawled episodes from the Internet Archive. What's not to like?

If you're looking for an episode and it's either not on there or you can't find it feel free to ask here. I've got over 60GB of Art Bell's tenure of C2CAM and I'll upload it if it exists.

I haven’t listened to the actual show people episode. I have heard him talk about the shadow person that he saw a few years before he died, on a couple of his Midnight In The Desert episodes however. He talked about how he was working late early one morning, and saw one poke it’s head around the corner of his kitchen doorway.

He tried to rationally explain it away by his mind playing tricks on him when he was that tired and it being the middle of the night. Which is plausible.

Allegedly, shadow people do like to peek around corners and such though. They don’t seem to like standing directly in front of you.

If I remember right, he had a theory about being put in a sort of “hypnotic” state due to staring at CRT screens for long hours at night and being able to see things you wouldn’t normally see. Something to do with the refresh rate.

I miss him.

When the weather cools, I throw a bunch of the 60gb collection on my phone and revisit peak late night radio. Comfy times.

I think George Noory was the first person I ever alogged.

The circumstances around Arts death were suspicious no? Anyone believe one of his many forgein wives did it?
I don’t recall all the details of his death, but Art was a story teller above all. A master. He committed to the bit, even when he knew something was bullshit, if it was entertaining. If it keeps you thinking, he would do it. Everyone around him knew this and played into it. Obviously we will never know the real truth, and even if we did no one would believe it. He was an old dude, smoked his whole life, lived nocturnally, and sat at a desk all day. It’s a wonder he lived as long as he did. But they probably got him, finally. Probably.

I do remember him claiming his house/compound was shot up while on air (I was listening at the time it happened) and he ended MITD mid episode. What better way to end a story. “They are threatening me and my family with violence.” An honorable move at face value.

Art was a deadbeat dad, swinger, was arrested for running a porn business (there's a news article about it), and if you believe Ted Gunderson, might have been involved in much darker shit.

His most known wife (his 3rd) Ramona, died suddenly in January 2006, and by April of that year he was married to his 4th wife Airyn (he didn't like her real name and just renamed her Airyn, lol). Struck me as really odd when it unfolded. The reverse speech guy who was banned from Coast to Coast reversed Art's statement about Ramona's passing, which I guess confirmed Art killed her to reverse speech schizos.

Art posted on a site called Bellgab which was originally made to alog George Noory. It was a seething maelstrom of retarded boomers, his younger fans, and anons. I posted there when he announced his new show Dark Matter on Sirius XM. I enjoyed it, but it was largely received as a disaster. Art had COPD, you could tell he wasn't into doing a show, he'd complain endlessly, and eventually bait and switched the audience by handing the show (rebranded as Midnight in the Desert) off to a former stripper and superfan, Heather Wade. Art moved her into a cuck shed on his property. She was relentlessly alogged for doing a bizarre impression of Art and being a terrible host. People would call in and sing negro spirituals. Many long time fans turned on him during this period, he wasn't happy at all.

There were people in her circle on the forum that claimed she said he committed suicide and left a note. (she was on the property when he died). Seemed plausible to me at the time.

The site archive is still up, you can read his posts on it:

Are there any recordings of Art Bell talking about the one time he successfully managed to take a picture of Area 51, in any of his radio shows? I remember back in the day he kind of casually mentioned taking a picture once, but he barely said much about it.

Hell yeah! I know what I'll be listening to for a while. Thank you!

I downloaded the Art Bell Collection from The Internet Archive, but it seems to be missing a ton of episodes. I'm currently listening to an episode right after 9/11, he's taking calls and people want to unleash a secret weapon on foreigners. It's comfy.

Didn't the now famous Area 51 phone call incident happen on 9/11 in 1997 or did I imagine that?

Yes. Yes it did.
