The Conners sucked, but to be fair, Fishman wasn’t a great actor, especially after he lost that “cute kid” energy from Roseanne. And his son died at some point, so I think he left.

Yeah, he wasn't the best actor. Even on Roseanne. Although he was less awkward on The Connors. I do think his son dying was a big reason.

I guess it's just weird to me that they just took him off the show randomly instead of Michael just leaving.
Re: Kids In the Hall. Yes, it was the drag show, and like SNL but Canadian.

Lorne was the producer for it. He also brought Mark McKinney on SNL but he was underused.

American version of the office is funnier than the British one.
The joke in the American Office is "haha whacky people". The joke in the UK Office is "haha these people are wasting their lives in pointless jobs and pointless activities with people they hate; and they live in Slough." Which isn't funny, it's just depressing. The UK Office is too real to be funny.

The “adult” acting on The Conners isn't very good. Becky brings wine aunt energy that at least feels like she is trying. Sara Gilbert is giving me nothing, her disaffected thing maybe worked in '96.

Also, it’s a constant source of amusement that Sara Gilbert still looks like a flannel raccoon and yet canonically, she gave birth to two mutant skyscraper children. Mark's already in a G League draft pool, and Harris is not just tall but has volume. I don’t know what the fuck is going on but every Zoomer is like 6’3” now.

I love how they went from "Becky is infertile and can't have kids" to "surprise, I had a one night stand and got knocked up!"

Even though the doctor made it clear she couldn't have kids at all.

Fag

Funny enough, decades later, Scott Thompson (a gay man) ended up defending the use of "fag" in their old skits when censorship was discussed.
You ninja’d me by a few minutes with the fag post, so please accept my equally offensive In Living Color sketch.
ETA: As far as “does it hold up,” I think this might be more relevant now than it ever was.

We doing In Living Color tax cause here's my favorite sketch:
Hey kid, you ain't moving fast enough I said get the hell outta here.

In Living Color? In Living Color.

While I'm at it here's SNL ripping NBC for cancelling Star Trek, not even ten years after it was cancelled. (Also probably ripping on William Shatner too, since Aykroyd and Belushi were huge fucking nerds.) I can't help but think that one Voyager episode where they encounter a truck in space is a reference to this.

William Shatner's counterattack. I can't find the full clip rn.

Unrelated but who cares.

While I'm at it have some Spock on Carol Burnett, from when TOS was still running.

I guess Carol Burnett did a lot of these, one of the sketches included in this video is from a brief revival in 1992.

I do like a lot of Carol Burnett but it may not be considered that funny now.

I can't believe I forgot to say WATCH GREEN ACRES

It's timeless absurdist comedy. A rich city lawyer and his spoiled wife move to a decrepit old farmhouse into a rural town filled with characters.

I don't think anyone argues that Ghostbusters isn't fucking hilarious.

Also all TV was a Jew joint, so was old time radio. Jews have always been the people writing mass media comedy.

I Love Lucy is literally just "My Favorite Husband" but translated to TV, and with Lucy having an ethnic husband. (Not sure if White American x White Cuban counts as an interracial marriage or not; light skinned niggers used to say they were "Cuban" in order to get White privilege in the pre Civil Rights South)

People in this thread bringing up MadTV and In Living Color, but the real king of American sketch comedy was The Dana Carvey Show.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=p7G12H5mQKQI recommend shotgunning the entire show in one sitting.
People still hate on Master of Disguise which always rubs me the wrong way.

Mr. Show is also up there too, most new sketch shows can't seem to nail the concept of parody.

Not really. Say what you will about the eternal Anglo, there's just something about the Brit*sh psyche that produces much, much better comedy than us Amerifats.

American version of the office is funnier than the British one.
Americans create Friends
UK copies the concept and calls it Coupling
Americans develope Coupling US and it's so unfunny it gets cancelled after three episodes

Hit or miss.

I never watched much KITH outside of randomly seeing parts of an episode when my dad would watch those kinds of shows, but to this day whenever I'm driving and see someone running, Running Faggot always pops in my head.

This might be the first time I watched the whole song. I only ever remember "Running faggot, running free. See the faggot running from the rednecks"
