So this week, we've had bizarrely comfy weather in Maryland. Nothing super nice, but considering it's January, and it's been like in the 50's, that's nice enough for me to throw on a jacket and enjoy a smoke on my roof deck.

I have a nice view of the city and it's nice to just have a smoke and pace around on my roof mulling over current day events or listening to podcasts or whatever.

I've got some cigars coming this afternoon but I worry they won't arrive in time for me to enjoy this weather. We're supposed to get rain this afternoon sometime and then back into the icebox we were in in December.

C'mon UPS, hurry!

I got a box of these, among other ones:

Question for those who have used premium butane fuel for jet lighters, are there any brands to avoid? I have 4 or 5 cans of Lotus butane I'm using in a new Xikar "tactical" (WTF) single jet lighter. The lighter is one of the best I have purchased in recent years and want it to last. At least until I drop it after 2 fingers times 3 of whatever I am drinking. My daughter bought me a few good cigars for Christmas and is upset I haven't smoked any yet. I just smoked the first AF from a box of 25 yesterday that have been sitting in one of my jars for nearly a year. She's gonna have to wait for a review.

That's a good question.

I have a bunch of cheapo jet lighters and they all end up shitting out eventually and I never thought it could've been because of shitty fuel. Is that a thing?

I just figured the lighting mechanism shat out.

I've bought my share of cheap $10-$20 jet lighters back in my extract days and none of them lasted beyond a third refill. I paid $90 for the Xikar I am using now and it maintains a good flame from full to empty. If it does not last a dozen refills I'll be the first to complain.

(Edit-Avoid the triple jet Xikars you may see from time to time offered as a freebie with $xxx purchase from an online cigar retailer. You'd be better off with the $10 7-11 torch lighter on the display rack by the register.) If you fall asleep and dream about dropping one it will be broken when you wake up.

The best trick for high power butane lighters is to stop using butane and replace it with camp gas, then dial the flow WAY back on the lighter. You'll get s much better and consistently hot flame while using way less fuel.

Turns out Hank Hill was right, propane is efficient and clean burning. And butane is a bastard gas

Also, as far as brands for the lighter. I like the zippo jet inserts for anything away from the house but there's a lot to be said for getting a nice, big table lighters

Had a grape cigar yesterday. May have been my most niggerish moment.
It was like a regular cigar, but laced with purple drank.

Thats either the most niggered, or most King Cobra JFS thematic cigar. Bless.
There's a beer store near my work that sells cigars, has a humidor for em. Been debating on buying one or two, an Ashton, a My Father's Le Bijou, or Romeo Y Julieta.

Ashton's are underrated, but all three are fine cigars. I've been on a kick with the Alec Bradley stuff lately

As promised, after 5 refills, I am here to complain. She still lights but the flame is suddenly weaker. I'm going to clean the "jet" with Everclear and a waterpik this weekend then blast it dry with my Datavac collecting dust in the garage. Observing the flame it does appear to be a jet issue but all I know about jets is how to chock and chain them.
