I had a rush of memory watching this, as I was one of many youngsters who watched it back in 92. This special really hits home for me because, just like the family that moves in at the end, my family followed those old timey traditions: tree goes up Christmas Eve, stays up 'til the New Year, even those old traditional glass ornaments, I think our box calls them European style. The only difference is the tree was decorated all during the day and my sister and I helped (and I still help my mom decorate the tree for that matter).
Why is Noël so damn deep, MysticMisty? Why did it go that hard? I watched it again after posting (first time in like a decade) and just wow.

It's rare that you find a kid's cartoon, much less a holiday special that teaches you about fiat currency and does so in a way that makes it perfectly understandable. I also liked how Jack Frost didn't get the girl at the end. Because that seemed very realistic. That sort of thing happens in the real world all of the time. I absolutely hated how Disney's The Little Mermaid changed the ending of its original story and replaced it with a Boss Fight and a Happily Ever After. It destroys the whole point of the story which was "sometimes life doesn't work out the way you hope it would.. Even if you sacrifice everything." (Of course, the original Little Mermaid DOES end up getting what she wanted - a soul and immortality. She thought a mermaid could only get it by marrying a human, but it turns out they can also get it by doing several hundred years of post-death community service.)
