Christmas already? - Already seeing Christmas decorations up at stores and mall Santa's are out
Ya, back when I lived in places that had snow I liked to be outside when it was snowing large flakes. The snow seemed to soak up sound. Now, I live in a place with no winter, but fog from time to time. I find the fog soaks up sound, just like snow.
I don't miss winter. Hate the bleakness of the landscape. Also hate when the roads aren't fit to drive on.
Don't care for Christmas, either. Liked it when my kids were little. Fun to watch them opening their presents. Now, meh....
I made some normie friends watch Gundam 0080 and when it gets to the last few episodes seemingly out of no where it's suddenly Christmas, and everybody was just thrown for a loop
Why was it suddenly Christmas? Well, in the show it's been the tail end of December nearly the entire time, but with the way westerners have been conditioned into having Christmas encroach further and further into the rest of the year by dumbass corporations desperate to make a buck having Christmas decorations and celebrations limited to Christmas was kind of a culture shock to them.
I like the Winter do you know why? It's like death. Misunderstood because it's such a dark, cold and inevitable fact of life. But under the darkness and fear there's a quiet peacefulness nothing else can bring. Like the world is sleeping and letting time slow down to rest and get ready for new beginnings
The last time I watched television (years ago) some channel had Christmas in July, why? I am not really into celebrating or religion, so I do not feel any need to designate one day as special from the misery of existing that is the 364 other days of the year.
To be fair, "Christmas in July" is one of those old pre-internet pop culture memes that's been around since the 1960's at the latest and it was originally meant to be an ironic joke.
IIRC, it began as a slogan for department stores having summer sales in July where the discounts were as low as the ones they did for Christmas and then later on, TV stations would get in on the joke and air Christmas specials as filler during the summer when there wasn't much in the way of new programming.
I don't really care for Thanksgiving, but I do think starting Christmas earlier each year is getting grating, especially if they start to put up Christmas stuff in October. At least wait until Halloween is over and done with.

I just like the silence all the snow brings. The world is muffled and feels so much more smaller and intimate when you're by yourself or with people. There's also no sense of relief like coming out of the bitter cold into the warm of your home and having a nice hot drink or getting shitfaced on eggnog.
I also have a lot of young relatives so seeing them excited for Christmas and playing with them in the snow is fun. It's a holiday better enjoyed with kids and family.
In older days, the Christmas represented reunion with family and friends, helping the poor and having fun,now it's just corporate with buy and consume product motto because it's all about this unfortunately.
