Christian theology thread for Christians - Deus homo factus est naturam erante, mundus renovatus est a Christo regnante

I'm mocking you for having bad taste, and you're trying to play it off as me being upset because you have no defense of your bad taste.

The time frame from which you said something stupid and that stupid thing being quoted to mock you is irrelevant, you're here forever.

Enjoy being dabbed on, burnt steak eating child.
Why would I ever defend my taste in food? I'm not trying to convince you to eat it, I don't want you hurting yourself

I was invited to the thread by a sperging "Christian".
Trust me, I didn't want to be here.
Define "Christian". Personally, as a devout follower of the one true church founded by Yeshua de Nzaret 2000 years ago, I define Christianity as strict adherence to the Mosaic law, including circumcision, abstinence from pork, praying at the Western Wall, and acceptance of Yeshua bar Mariam as the Jewish Messiah. Anyone who does not follow the practices stated above is clearly erring and must repent of their sinful ways, including you.

No matter what answer I give you're just going to go "NUH UH!" so let's just not waste our time, you don't want an actual answer anyway.
including you.

Who's playing a tough guy? All I said was I don't want you hurting your teeth on steak you aren't able to chew. I'm being a good person, like Jesus would want
Do you consider tender, properly cooked, meat to be an indicator of lacking dental integrity? Why not just chew bones for the marrow then?

Of course not! A nice medium rare steak is also delicious, I think the indicator is acting like well done is some sort of horrible thing. And chewing on marrow won't give you that nice bit of char when you cook it just perfectly

I suggest you try it even once with an open mind.

I'll drop the pretense and level with you.

The reason for the mocking is not a matter of thinking well done is some intrinsically horrible thing but the result of your MATI (big, red, underlined) initial post about it.

Beyond that it really only works with high fat, lower quality, cuts of meat that aren't typically associated with steakhouses, and even then that char you're seeking can be obtained without the center reaching a well done state if the chef is truly skilled. I have had well done steak before, I was at a dive bar in Steamboat Springs Colorado and it was a strip steak that did not come with a choice of temperature. It wasn't inedible by any means but the thick line of fat along one side was the best part.

But as @Agent Abe Caprine points out we digress, so let me address the original point of contention.

The Poor Widow in Luke 21:1-4 is considered more valuable because she gave everything she had, not because what she gave was itself more than what the wealthy gave. If you look at it from a standpoint of pure monetary value then 100 will always be greater than 2, but its more accurately understood as a matter of proportional value.

If the wealthy gave all their wealth then it would be of equal value to God as the two very small copper coins given by the poor widow. After all it's not like God needs money.

Fair enough, but I formatted it that way as more of a joke. But it attracted the steak spergs who actually were genuinely pissy over it. I grew up with the way my dad cooked steaks, and he always put the char on it, I like steaks regardless of how it's cooked (besides blue, that's just not even cooked), but I always assumed well done detractors have never actually had it made the correct way. But the steak chat bores me and I regret opening that can of worms to be honest with you.

I get what it's saying and it's a nice story, I just don't like how it's worded. Jesus looks at the widows offer and the rich mans and says "Truly she gave more". The terminology used is what rubs me the wrong way.
I would implore the widow to keep her money so she can live to help another day, and implore the rich man to give, but also to stay rich so that he can continue to help. Giving everything you have helps only once, and makes yourself poor in the process.
The bible has many great stories and lessons within, just that one I'm not a fan of.

You gotta try some good steak tartare or carpaccio.

If it helps, read it as "she gave more proportionately"

Also, keep in mind that they're giving to the Hebrew Temple, as Christ had not founded His Church yet, and His Church recommends donations amount to 10% of one's income, not all of it.

Consider it like this. Christ isn't demanding that we give of ourselves until we have nothing, but stating that someone who has little and gives as much as she can is to be commended. It's not an endorsement of bankrupting oneself for faith, but our Messiah saying "this woman did more than she had to, more than was expected of her, for the love of her God." Thus she is blessed above those who give only because of social expectation or banal routine, or because they have wealth to spare.

This is more along the lines of the purpose of this thread... predestination... I haven't met a single person that asked to be born. My mother had me when she was 39 (real CWC level age), when I was little, I came across Deuteronomy 23:2 and said that I was going to hell for being a bastard... she said that if she believed that she would have just aborted me. In turn I have two bastard children out of wedlock that never asked to be born, and I told their mother to abort both of them... she denied my request to murder them and now I realize what a fool I was / am.

I think that God predestines our parents, their financial situation, the language we speak, the country we are born in and the children we will have / had. What do you think about that statement?

ETA: The difference between providential and predestination is a line that I'm unclear of... car break downs preventing you from being on the highway for a dozen+ car pile-up for example. I think our births and deaths are predestined to occur exactly as God has planned it, but the car example would be providence that spared your car / life?

I think if God ever had a plan, it was completely derailed at some point and the world it is today was not a part of his plan. Like an experiment gone amok. Maybe that was due to Eve eating the apple, or maybe when people stopped being 1,000,000% devout, or maybe when human sacrifices were stopped, idk. Or maybe everything IS going according to plan and the world is just made for God's viewing pleasure.
I believe there is a creator, but I accept not knowing the truth until I meet him. Or her. Maybe that's Agnosticism. I'd just feel very foolish if I dedicated my entire life to a set of beliefs just to find out I was wayyy off the mark. Especially if it's something like "You spent your life as Catholic, but Lutheranism was the correct choice!" or, perish the thought, the Jeets or Muslims were right all along. But if God truly does love his creation, I don't believe making the wrong choice of faith will tarnish your soul, if your intention was to be good the entire time.

The way I've seen it is God is smart enough to play 5D Chess and His plans can be complete regardless of the collaboration or resistance of individual parts. The Adam and Eve bit feeds into that. Jesus was always going to become human and fuse Heaven & Earth, but after sin He additionally rescues mankind.

This is part of the old debate of men's free will against God's sovereignty, how can a person have free will if the outcome is already determined? It would seem that God had set Caanan for destruction and Noah had a part in cursing said grandson for indicating his nakedness to his brothers. There exist many opportunities for free will in this scenario, starting with building a boat miles from a body of water, getting drunk and passing out naked, cursing the son for exposing your drunkenness instead of yourself for getting drunk, etc. But who would kill the remaining giants if it weren't for the Canaanites, it would seem that Caanan was predestined to be the son of the Ham, who was cursed instead of blessed.
