Material by John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner (in fact he was pianist on a few Coltrane albums) and Dave Brubeck; hard to pick just a few from them, IMO they can do no wrong.

Coltrane's "Everytime We Say Goodbye" from Favorite Things might be my favorite on the album:

"Offering", much quieter, with less chaotic sax (he had Pharoah Sanders on his albums at this point) than the rest of the album:

And these from Tyner:

"When Sunny Gets Blue"

"Effendi" is nice

"Man from Tanganyika" is another one of my favorites but tons more:

Good stuff by Brubeck too for chilling out

"Strange Meadow Lark" here, but really this whole album

And this one

and this

All of which I find extremely mellow

Been listening to some darker garage music lately

In the late 00s I happened to discover an anime music review blog. Sometimes they'd review beautiful soundtracks. This album is one of them, and it has been my go-to ever since.

Unfortunately, the full album on YouTube only exists as a cover. It's fairly faithful to the original, though.

I picked this up from an Aztrocist video where he mentions it. Highly recommend.

This is Shingo Nakamura, fantastic chill melodic house.
