It's also simply titled "Chernobyl", made by NTV. All I can find is news articles on Russian and English sites linking to the now deleted Youtube video of the trailer
I got one result and the video was gone and replaced by those old TV color bars after a clip of a nuclear explosion.

Thanks Russia.

Hello. I'm probably going to watch this series in the coming days, and I wanted to ask something before starting. How faithful is it to the real events? Is the era well recreated? why is Russia mad at this? why are people from both left and right mad at this? should I care? lol

I ask this because I want to avoid another fiasco like The Last Czars was. I mean, the moment I saw Lenin's Mausoleum in 1905...

Reasonably. It gets a few things wrong but some of the things it gets wrong are gotten wrong by experts and eye witness reports anyway.

Is the era well recreated?
Scarily well, according to Ukrainians.

why is Russia mad at this?
Russia is so shit now that strong eastalgia has taken hold with people actually looking back fondly on the days of the USSR, where they were still miserable but at least had the power to make everyone else miserable too.

why are people from both left and right mad at this?
Because they are never not mad.

should I care?
Search your heart, you will find your answer.

Right wing people don't like it because the creator told an interviewer that he was partially inspired to make the main moral theme of the series about the consequences of institutional misinformation and dishonesty, because Orange Man is spreading misinformation and lying to the world.

Left wing people don't like it because the creator's portrayal of the disaster shows a lot of the dysfunctional elements of the Soviet bureaucracy struggling to cope with the response to the disaster. The tankies and authoritarian leftists are especially upset that in the series, the KGB is constantly being present as a threatening background fear that inhibits the efforts of the characters trying to respond to the disaster.

Regardless of the creator's intent (ie if you ignore what he says in the interviews), I think any political criticism or commentary present in the series is subtle enough that it could be read either way, as a pro-leftist or pro-rightist interpretation.

This series is proof that content makers (and people in general) can be very good at describing what evil IS. They just have trouble identifying the who and the why because everyone is going to think that their politics and beliefs are right while all opposing politics and beliefs are wrong. That's why everyone walks away from this series thinking it validates (or in some cases, attacks) their social and political views.

For what it's worth, there's no blatant anti-Trumpery in the series. Dyatlov isn't wearing an orange wig and promising to build a wall around Reactor 4, if you catch my drift.

This dude did a great recreation of what actually happened, not just what the show runners wanted to show, in this video.

Crazy to think the entire accident only took 19 seconds to go from everything is fine to "BOOM".

Nuclear accidents, particularly when it involves prompt criticality, can be scary fast. That was a great video, I liked the Chernobyl series, but yeah, its scientific accuracy was not the absolute best. Decent, but it's also still television and you gotta add some drama.
