“I was feeling sad today so I asked chat gpt to write a fake biblical passage about Jesus accepting trans people,” user Psychological_Dog527 wrote in the trans subreddit. The result has gone viral with thousands of likes on Reddit and graphics shared on other social media sites.

“I know it’s not real, but it gave me some comfort,” they wrote at the end of the post, and the internet has responded in kind.

If it was that easy I'd already have an answer. The Church can't just haphazardly call things sins and then walk it back later like it's no big deal so you have to know first what piece of the Ten Commandments or Jesus' own commandments is being violated.

No, they absolutely are, otherwise you are allowing men to insert their own moral laws into God's revelation. All sins in Christianity must be derived from the Ten Commandments and Jesus' teachings because these are the globally binding laws for mankind revealed to us by God. Many sins are not stated on the face of the commandment or aren't even mentioned in the Bible (suicide) but you can easily get there with deductive reasoning. If you can't do that, it's not a sin.

You can try to name a sin that isn't covered by these commandments but you'll never find one.

This is why churches that say drinking alcohol in and of itself is sinful, as opposed to morally neutral, have to make up ludicrous stories or use absurd interpretations of Scripture outside of Church tradition to explain away Jesus' own actions in the Gospel of John. Neutral things can definitely be sinful for a person depending on their own personal weaknesses but in and of themselves, they're not.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church structures the entire section on sin, ethics and Christian morals using these commandments for that reason, it's comprehensive and addresses everything that needs to be addressed.
