My fucking beloved mother said over dinner last night that she "watched the clip of Kirk dying over and over because it was so great". She raised me in the church.
It all changed over COVID... how can political media be this poisonous?
I think the biggest factor is stupid shit people used to say to each other now gets posted and blasted on SM. Big media started taking all its cues from social media to feed the machine.
People have always spouted off and thought all kinds of unhinged, stupid and evil things when it comes to politics. But the worst that usually happened, until SM, was a friend getting mad, arguments a bar, ruining a family meal, etc…These same people, if you pulled them aside, and asked them to write or make a public statement on this topic would actually think before speaking/writing and probably not make a giant ass of themselves. But SM gives people the ability to spout stupid shit without thinking into the public arena. It’s ugly.
SM has also made a great sport of taking the dumb shit ppl say very seriously and use it to crucify them/ score points whenever possible. Look at how lefties combed through people’s online history to find one joke that was off color or racist to prove they were evil and deserved to be canceled.
Humans have always enjoyed old fashion witch hunts and lynch mobs, but SM has given them an entirely new tool to use for them and a new platform as well. It’s made them incredibly comfortable too boot.
You used to have to go out in public and call someone a witch, rapist, accuse them of heresy, etc... You had to join with the angry crowd. The fruits of your labor was watching their suffering, humiliation, torture, exile or death. SM lets you sit comfortably at home, gleefully try to ruin someone for sport and then read a story about their ruin, feel smug, move on. They’ve made feeling morally superior and bullying an indoor sport to enjoy at home on the sofa.
I think it’s similar to the road rage phenomenon. It was observed years ago that people doing enraged, crazy shit on the road was due to the psychological phenomenon of being in their own little bubble. I think SM is similar.
Also every cancel campaign I’ve ever seen starts as a petty personal grievance or vendetta. People just found it was easy to round up an angry possee on the flimsiest of reasons if they could point to something from the woke grievance to give it the veneer of respectability. It also quickly revealed how cowardly or easily bullied the average bystander was in these situations and would join the mob or remain silent.
What worries me is the dude who runs Palantir literally wants to use his company to track people who have said evil things about Charlie Kirk.
Palantir and Peter Thiel are my boogeymen. Thiel is the ultimate power hungry evil faggot with a very precise plan for world domination. He’s like a modern day Roy Cohen, only smarter and with billions of dollars at his disposal.
