The thing is, we've infantilised adults. I'm middle-aged, I look at a 22 year olds and see a kid and I remember what a god-awful moron I was at that age and part of me feels sort of bad for him. But if I go back a generation, my parents, most of my aunts and uncles were all fully functioning adults at 22. Many were married or about to marry, some were already parents, all had proper jobs and saving to buy a home. They were grown-ups, not living out and extended childhood where they had adult rights without adult responsibilities.

I'm not fully anti-college, some career fields need further education, but I am anti the expectation that everyone goes to college even if it means doing a bullshit degree, because it puts an artificial pause on growing up. It's four years of largely partying and it gets boring because it's largely meaningless, and when life is meaningless, you end up desperate for something meaningful, and for so many people, that becomes leftist activism.

young people change their minds all the time, and going to college/moving out of an traditional family to turn left is a pretty common pattern. not to mention that probably very few of his irl friends and family would know what he was saying online with discord trannies all over the world.

I suspect he was the smartest kid in his school and, instead of being a normal person, felt superior to everyone around him. Then he got to college and was suddenly surrounded by other students who were on his same level and couldn't cope with not being at the top of the class anymore. (Many such cases!) At this point he could just show some humility, be a normal person, accept that you aren't always going to be at the top, and fit into society...

I'm aware people of his age having the tendency to do absurd things and such, however I just find it peculiar, and it may just be me, that he went from making a video of him reciting a letter as a fresh high school graduate saying he got a a four-year merit scholarship to dropping out after only a semester.
