According to this morning's FBI updates he was reported by some of his online friends, I believe before his dad turned him in, too. Tips were sent in that he had told them he had stashed a rifle and also that he had to change clothes, which matched up with what they had gathered from people's cameras in the neighborhood he had cut through. He changed back to the original clothes to turn himself in. I think his dad was trying to convince him he might be able to avoid the death penalty if he stopped running. The details were sparse but what was there pointed to them having narrowed down their known suspects quite a bit.

We hear a lot, especially from the Left, that you're supposed to go to college, get a degree, and that's how to get a well-paying job and become "successful", while "blue-collar" work is considered less prestigious.. That isn't necessarily the path to success for everyone, though, and the path is rarely straight (kek). I'm not saying that's why he did it, but I can see how being raised in a society with this type of messaging and "failing" could do damage to the psyche. It would be a shame, too, being an electrician can be a lucrative career.

I know several people who have gone down a similar route. A close friend of mine was an absolute genius in high school, went to college on a full scholarship studying Astrophysics. Dropped out in the second year. Now sits at home all the time on Reddit and Quora, in his mid 30s unemployed living in his mother's house. Virgin, never had a girlfriend, angry at the world. He even looks like this guy.
