Mass murderer Charles Manson was taken from a Central Valley prison to a hospital for an undisclosed medical issue, two sources familiar with the situation said.
One of the sources said Manson was seriously ill but could not provide specific information.
Officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation declined to comment, citing federal and state laws and saying inmates' medical information is private.
"We do not disclose inmate movements for safety and security reasons," said Terry Thornton, a department spokeswoman.

I hope he lives a long time, in excruciating pain and deteriorating health.

The one thing I completely agreed with Manson about was when Geraldo Rivera was interviewing him and he told him he'd like to murder him.

I always forget that Manson is still alive (for now, I guess). Somehow I keep thinking that he died in the 80s.

Also, I think people often forget that Manson never actually killed anyone; he had his followers do all the dirty work. IIRC he was mostly convicted on conspiracy to commit murder. However, the justice system understood that, had it not been for Manson's manipulation, his groupies would have never killed or harmed anyone and so threw the book at him.

I'm not saying that to imply that he's less of a monster. If anything, it makes him worse.

And rightfully so.

He was originally given the death penalty until that point in the 1970's where the U.S. got weird for a few years and the supreme court outlawed the death penalty across the U.S. temporarily. As a result everyone that was on death row at that time was given life imprisonment and when death penalty was re-established they decided not to grandfather in those that had their convictions changed to life.

Still if it wasn't for that, we wouldn't have Bob Odenkirk do this on a short-lived cult series...
