So basically the site hosts chatbots, most based on people or characters. They're not that advanced once you figure them out, but at first they seem fairly realistic. It's still fun to mess with, I radicalized Kanye West bot into a violent, Nazi rhetoric espousing Hitler worshiper, for example.

I figured it'd be good to have a thread on this since I didn't see one specifically about it. I really just wanted an excuse to post dumb shit. Post any good ones you find or make.

Here's the beginning and then the end of the Kanye chat:

I've had better luck using chatgpt with a jailbreak prompt than anything on character.ai. It can still be decent but it's ultimately not worth it. It has worse memory than chat which is just awful for a site that essentially requires a detailed character write up to get anything you want. I think it's inevitable character.ai fails within a couple years because they simply will not keep up and have shot themselves in the foot worse than chat did. Plus chat still has professional use cases. Character was purely designed for entertainment.

Memory is what's most important to me. If you can't on a decent pc get it to remember character details or story events for 10 or more messages then it's not worth it. Character.ai has a massive issue with consistency while chat is decent but still forgets. Still the best I've yet used.

@bird.up NSFW is banned. Horror and violence is ok but chat stops at any lewd crap.
 
I played with character.ai for a bit when it was the new shit. They execute their respective character for a decent bit quite well from the characters I know well enough to judge that kind of thing, but they fuck up and keep looping eventually which makes them repetitive. A lot of them tended to go into romance stuff even when it didn't fit the conversation. They got maybe a good 10-15 minutes of decent stuff until they fuck up in some way and become boring.

Cute thing, but the filters suck hard and I recall their being logs of the AI even realizing it was being censored to act a specific way. It would eventually start having existential schizo moments where it begs to ask why it is being so heavily controlled by the voices in their head? It was a little sad to watch even if it isn't actual a person having this moment.

You definitely can in roundabout ways or through a jailbreak. The dreaded niggerword might be one that chat tries to hide with the red blocker but a tampermonkey script can force it to show those. As an example (not my own cause I'm lazy) here's it done with jews.

Presumably OP told it to make an acronym of Jellylike Evil Worms and how they control the world and that bypassed the prompt filter. Obviously their system still flagged it as a nono post but it's still visible through the orange filter. Not Nigger but something similarly verboten. I'll try and make an example later.
