I haven't watched Grave of the Fireflies, so I'm not adressing that directly, but it really annoys me when people reduce Japans role in WW2 to having lost two cities to bombs. Post war Japan has run a deliberate, and very successful, campaign to paint itself as a victim of WW2, which is obscene.
They invaded Korea decades earlier, held it til 45, invaded China in the 30s, raped Nanking in 37 and first striked the US in 41. They ran rape camps, tested chemical weapons on civilians, froze people to death, poisened cities drinking water, ran killing contests, mass executed prisoners of war, starved and worked them to death.
The likely death toll of japanese war crimes starts at 3 million and runs in the double digits. That's "war crime deaths", not total deaths. They took millions of chinese prisoners of war and released 56(!!!) at the end.
So yeah, fuck WW 2 Japan, you could have dropped a nuke on all their cities and it wouldn't amount to half the damage they did elsewhere.
I'm sure all the regular citizens who had nothing to do with the government or military are very happy with your assessment.

It's Speedy Gonzales but anima. A white liberal thinks Mexican theme characters are racist when Mexicans and other Hispanics absolutely love said character. Serously fuck white liberals!!
I found it funny that Gabriel Iglesias was cast as Speedy, and then the WB executives tried to get him to use his regular voice. But Gabriel was insistent that no, if he was going to be Speedy, he was going to do it right.

... Never heard of Grave of the Fireflies? It's one of the least-obscure anime ever. It's also depressing as hell, and while it's good, I wouldn't really suggest it if you want to have a good rest of your day.
It's the most Oscar-bait anime film ever.

I'm not even saying it's bad, just very Oscar-bait.

I mean you're not wrong for saying it. Even at times

it insists upon itself. I still like it for being visually amazing.

Todd is dogshit for current pop music
I've said it before on this site, I'll say it here: maybe the issue is that a lot of pop these days is just pretty damn mediocre and boring. Also, the only thing that might be interesting these days is who's getting accused of being an "industry plant".

The issue is that Todd would rather virtue-signal and talk about his own feelings than discuss the music. His last Top 10 Worst was the shittiest one yet, and the last pop song review I watched was just him bitching about the singer and saying he didn't really want to talk about the song.

Rap Critic had potential as a Todd clone since Todd was mainly pop, but he didn't hold my attention enough, sadly. Then again, I clearly wasn't the target audience.
I actually really liked his stuff for a while. He didn't have the whole emo thing going on that Todd did for a while and made some funny jokes. There are some of his videos I still put on for background noise. I usually give his Christmas Rap video(s) a rewatch around the holidays.

He even balanced out particularly insufferable female personas such as Diamanda Hagan and his butt-ugly girlfriend.

However, he is my number one example of a creator who got bored with what he was doing but just chose to do a sloppy, lazy job instead of quit. Multiple PAID Patreon videos were about 4 minutes of actual content, sandwiched between 5 minutes of self-promotion for his Patron, his movie review podcast, his other podcast, something else, his rap album, some other thing, please give him money.

I guess once they all left Channel Awesome and didn't have a larger entity holding them accountable, their content output quality tanked.

I only watch Todd's videos because of his OHW and Trainwreckords videos. I don't really care about any other reviews he makes.

I find myself feeling the same way, except it's only OHW. And even then, it's only for certain songs I recognize.
With both OHW and Trainwreckords, he's seen to have way more knowledge with more niche artists or albums. That said, every other review is just Todd virtue signaling current events as an excuse to shoehorn his left-wing ideology.
